I am not sure about this one......,

We bought this item for our almost 4 year old daughter and I have to say that I am a bit disappointed. This toy does not hold her interest as much as the My First Leap Pad and it seems to be for much older children(5-8). Many of the games are frustrating and she tends to put the laptop down after a few minutes. I personally find that it is boring and does not encourage the child to play.Maybe when she is a little older she would want to use this item but I will be sticking to Leap Pad products.

we recieved this yesterday as a gift for my 5 year olds birthday. i can't even figure out how to use it! there are too many buttons for a preschooler, too many words on the buttons, too many words on the screen, graphics suck, (i mean, its a kids toy, but you can't tell what things are supposed to be.) all in all, so far, i think this is geared toward kids way over the ages of 4, 5, 6, 7. maybe 8 and up. some of the games are simple enough, but if they can't read the buttons to get to the games, it means i have to watch over her shoulder and help her along thru the whole thing. like the other reviewer said, stick with leappad.

This product is great for my 9 year old daughter. Since she has Asperger's Syndrome, this is perfect for her. She is able to learn about spelling and math while she's having fun. The voice on it can be annoying but as long as it helps her, it's a small price to pay.

This was a gift for my niece who loves playing with it, and appears to be learning from it. It is durable and arrived promptly before Christmas.

We bought the VTech Touch Tablet Advanced for my granddaughter Christmas, 2009. It is very similar in appearance to this machine. She loved it and played with it frequently. When she tired of the 4 cartridges that came with the computer, we tried to buy more (as we had been told we could.) That's when we discovered that we had paid full price for an item that was being discontinued. No other cartridges are available for the machine. So now, my granddaughter, in less than 6 months, has a $50 laptop that she is bored with. Apparently, this company simply discontinues items without notice and does not make the software for the newer models compatible with the older machines. The graphics are less than desirable, as is the screen, and the music can be annoying, but can be turned off. However, the programs did help her learn, and she very much enjoyed the laptop. My biggest gripe is spending $50 and feeling tricked/swindled by this company. We spent the money predicated on the idea the machine could grow with the child and that more than 4 programs would be available. Such is not the case. Beware this company! I will never trust them again.

So...So,
This review is from: VTech Learning Laptop (Toy)
It looks good, but has some draw backs like1. Music is irritating 2. Can not decrease volume below certain level. 3. Screen (actual display)is too short. 4. Display back ground should be with fluorescent color. 5. It should be provided with AC adoptor

Glad I didn't pay much for this laptop. It is poorly constructed. The buttons are super cheap and the lighting on the screen is poor. As others have noted, this is NOT age appropriate for a preschooler. My 7 year old does well with it. The options for changing games is geared more towards adults.

This is wonderful for a young child that wants to use a laptop like Mommy/Daddy/older siblings. The keys are arranged in QWERTY layout, which is wonderful to help children become familiar with the most commonly used layout. You may have to help the child learn to use it, but that is not a bad thing in my opinion. This is not a park your kid mindlessly in front of it type of thing, it is an **educational** thing, which means there is some learning and teaching involved. It is very durable; my 1 year old likes to open and close the screen again and again and sometimes leaves the mouse on the keyboard when he closes it, and it has not broken yet. Highly recommended.

I love this laptop computer! Parents, you have got to get this item. I love it because of its educational content and also this toy has totally captured my son's imagination. I now have more free time because he is so intrigued by his new computer.

There Are Better Toys Out There,

My 3 year-old daughter received this as a gift for Christmas 2010. She is now almost 4 1/2, so we've owned this toy for almost a year. She enjoys the concept of having a laptop, but the actual games are nearly impossible for her to play due to the poor set-up, awful graphics and complicated operation. She requires step-by-step assistance to play even the simplest games. Although others have mentioned that it might be better for older kids, I feel that even when she gets older, she will still be bored by the small, fuzzy, black-and-gray screen and be more interested in something more colorful and user-friendly.
