Not great for right-handed babies,
By I. Fairfax "happytexasmom" (Houston, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vtech - Pull & Lights Phone (Toy)
My son enjoys the lights and music this toy produces, but I have a big complaint. The on/off button is the * key on the telephone's keypad. Because it is located in the lower right corner, any baby who plays with the phone with his right hand will inadvertently turn the toy off...repeatedly. It's just as easy to turn it on, of course, but this means you'll be listening to the toy's opening and closing musical fanfare over and over again. This will also happen if the toy is turned upside down and resting on the keypad: it will continuously turn itself on and off.

ok i will admitt ...and only in here mind you ...that i couldn't stop playing with this phone. Why didn't we get this when we were kids i ask myself. MY husband told me to put it away before i ran the battery out. I mean it ...this phone has so many different functions just like the directions say. It will certainly teach my grandson every thing from sounds to songs and direction and on and on.

The toy has nice features that teach the concepts of numbers, animal sound recognition, hand eye coordination, plus fun tunes that my 12 months old daughter loves to dance to. However the cord that is attached to the receiver of the phone is too short for my daughter to actually pick it up and use it as a phone receiver. The on/off button is located at a bad spot that makes unintentional turning "on and off" of the toy in the middle of the play session a frequent occurrence. The weight distribution makes it a poor pull toy that topples easily. I like this as a musical toy, but would purchase another toy phone in the future for my daughter to do imaginary phone plays.

Nice toy, Not my kid's favorite though,

I bought this toy along with a few other v-tech toys. My daughter likes playing with it, but it doesn't hold her attention that long. She is almost 9 months old and so far enjoys chewing on the phone receiver and banging on the buttons. There are three "modes" you can put the phone in, providing you with much more than just a set of number keys that make noise when pressed. One mode does counting and says the numbers aloud, one is musical and plays a different song when each key is pressed (this is my daughter's favorite), and one is about animals, saying the names of the animals and giving an example of what sound they make. I originally thought that this toy did not come with a pull cord, but if you take the battery cover off, you will find it tucked in. Now that my daughter is older, she likes watching me pull the phone in circles around me quickly. As you roll the phone, the receiver bobbles up and down in a cute way. Also, to concur with a previous reviewer, the on/off button is the lower right button of the keypad. This is a HORRIBLE place for this button. My daughter turns the phone on and off constantly. All of a sudden, in the middle of a song you will hear "bye bye" and no more. Luckily she tuns it back on as easily as she turned it off. Bad planning on v-tech's part. Can't believe that made it past a focus group.

This toy gets 5 stars from me. Purchased online for Christmas and was surprised to see the phone when it came in. Very nice toy, durable with big base & buttons. Easy slide feature to change buttons from noise, to songs, to games. 7 mth old grandchild loves it and plays with it often. Especially since he is always going for things with cords, and this item helps cure that curiosity. His 4 year old brother loves it too. He sings along with the toy, does counting, and helps his brother play the "find the anminal" game with the buttons. Great value for the $. I definitely would buy this again for any young child as a gift.

We had a much older version that was passed down to my now 4 year old that my 10 month old was using but we just weren't too happy so we bough this. It's perfect! Right now all he does is drag it around by the phone but my 4 year old is teaching him how to use it :).

I bought this phone for my 2 1/2-year-old. She really enjoys it and pretends to call friends and family. The only con is that it's a fairly chatty phone. My daughter pretends to dial and starts to talk and the phone starts a song, or says, "Oh, it's you!" and my daughter is pretending to talk to grandma. She says to the phone, "Be quiet!" She enjoys the songs and has quickly learned her numbers. Overall, a good toy. We've learned to turn it off if we're going to do some pretend conversations.

I got this as part of my daughter's 1st b-day gifts. She likes it just fine, I would have given it a five star, but I agree, the major design flaw is that the on/off key is to the right of the zero. She turns it on and off constantly and sometimes turns it off when she doesn't want it to be off.

I bought this toy to use in my work as an infant teacher, working with children who have developmental delays. This toy is sturdy, captures the interest of my little clients and has a variety of ways to be played with. The only drawback is the location of the on/off switch. It is located too close to the bottom of the toy and can be accidentally turned off during play. The lights and songs are attractive to young children and the animal sounds are fairly realistic. I am very happy to have purchased this toy.
