We bought this adorable kitty toy for our granddaughter's first birthday. She likes it, but not as much as we thought she might, but of course she's not old enough to tell us what she thinks about it......as for people hearing the word, "rape," well, I was surprised at that....we never heard the toy as saying anything other than "chase" and "race" and kitty speaks more clearly than a lot of people we have to deal with on a daily basis.....there is absolutely no "p" sound to be heard at all. Sometimes it seems like some people are always looking for what they can find wrong with everything and half the time, that in itself is what is wrong with this world in general.

My daughter got this for her first birthday, SHE LOVED IT! It has a sensor on the back and front so it dosnt bump into things and it spins around when it gets near an object (like a roomba), plays music (gets annoying, but she likes it so you can just tune out the music like on every other kids toy you have). Not very educational, but she she had fun chasing it around the house.... that is, she had fun for the two days it worked. As with anything, toddlers pick up there toys, and then usually drop or throw them. my daughter dropped this on the carpet twice, and it started to not work properly, started "stuttering" and freezeing. She dropped it on the hardwood once, and it stopped working all together. You would THINK they would make these more durable since they are intended for toddlers. I am so bummed, but I am not going to be buying another just for it to break.
The voice even says "chase me" and when you pick it up it says "weeeeeee" so the designers knew that little kids would be roughousing with it, so it ought to be more durable.
Too bad, cuz untill it broke, she really had fun with it. Dont waste your money.

We bought this toy for our son who seemed to be learning to crawl fairly slowly. We wanted something that he would have to chase after. This toy was a kind of "love at first sight for him"! It makes a lot of fun noises and plays fun songs. It has sensors on the front and back so when it senses your child is getting near, it will back up or move forward and "run" away. It has random movements so it is not always in a straight line. Sometimes it will go in circles, it will turn left, it will turn right, etc.

I wish this would work on carpet, but that is just not the case. Make sure you have a large, open area of hard floor to really get the most use out of this. No matter how far away we thought we were from the carpet, this thing would always make its way back to the carpet and get stuck - frustrating our son.

Although my 13 month old finds this toy entertaining, it will get stuck repeating the same thing over and over. "Here I come, I'm on the run!" Seriously it will repeat that 50 times in a row. It started doing this after about 3 days of playing with it. It no longer moves like it did the first half hour of play. Save your money!

My daughter got this for Christmas from a friend. The sensors are not low enough if it bumps into... say... a rug or something else low to the ground and it just kept giggling and saying to catch it. Then my kid decided she was tired of chasing it on carpet, not making it a worthy adversary. So she started to push it around like a toy car. Now it doesn't want to go anywhere, and the music skips around. Im not sure why. Im kinda glad its dying though. Ill just have to sneek it out of the bedroom before shes awake tomorrow morning.

The mechanisms underneath should be a bit more durable and withstand more abuse.

First off it's cheaply made, it broke after about a month of having it , my husband did something magical and made it work again. It's loud, it's quietest setting makes my ears hurt I actually ended up taping over the speakers to make it quieter. It has a furby like quality... it randomly turns itself on and asks people to chase it.. creepy, but my 2 year old loves it as does my dog, so the stupid thing is gonna stick around for a bit.

We saw this in the store and thought it was a really cute idea. Ended up purchasing it via Amazon, and after it showed up we were very excited to give it to our 16 month old.

Since the age range is listed as 1-3 years, we figured she was still early on enough to enjoy it for a while. But after a short while of play she got somewhat bored with it. The problem is, it's just too easy to catch. When you set it down, it goes forward, and then stops. The idea is as you chase it, it will run away. Instead, she walks (at a slow pace) right up to it and picks it up. If you approach VERY, VERY slowly, it will run away a little, but apparently even a normal walking speed is way too fast for this thing at her age. It should be called "Catch Me If You Feel Like It" because she got bored of it rather quickly and no longer cared.

The toy is cute, and the stuff it says and the songs it sings are slightly fun, but without the primary purpose it just doesn't have staying power. I can say that it is durable (she has put it on furniture and let it "run" off of it several times with no issues). And it does an ok job of avoiding some furniture and walls, but overall, it just doesn't have much staying power for the recommended age range.

If the toy was ranged 8mo-18mo, it may be more of a 4 star item (still has some flaws and repeats the same phrase over and over while in chase mode) but as it is, it is not well suited to the 1-3 year range in my opinion, and is just way too easy to catch for most toddlers to have fun with it for long.
