The Kidizoom Camera Connect is designed for ages 3-8. I'd have to say that the age recommendation is spot on. The dual view finder is great for little eyes that don't yet have the ability to wink or focus out of just one eye. The exterior of the camera is designed to fit easily into little hands. Each side of the camera is coated with rubber that insures a good grip and protection in case the camera is dropped.

The navigation menu is very easy for the little ones to pick up on. Kids quickly learn that they can press the house button and be brought to the navigation menu that will allow them to use the little joystick to navigate over the different camera options. The camera options include: Camera, Video Recorder, Playback, Voice Recorder, Downloads, Games, Creative Tools (includes a photo editor and animation maker), and settings.

The camera is only 1.3 megapixel so you're not going to get pictures that you can blow up and hang in your living room. For most, I really don't think that will be a big disappointment. Unless your child is a budding Ansel Adams chances are their camera will be filled with a lot of pictures of carpets, walls, and blurred figures until they learn they need to remain stationary while taking pictures. Even then I think you'll find the 1.3 megapixel perfectly adequate.

I'm pretty sure my kids don't know the meaning of the word off so I really appreciate that there is an automatic shutoff on the camera that shuts the camera off after a couple minutes of non use.
So far both my boys love this camera!

My 6 year old likes to play Newscaster and make little news report videos with the movie function. We are still getting lots of shots of the carpet and walls from my 3 year old. He hasn't quite figured out that there is a split second delay from the time that he presses the shutter button til the time the picture is captured.

Both boys LOVE playing with the effects and the games!

My wife and I purchased this camera for our son's 3rd birthday and he loves it. We saw a lot of ridiculous negative comments on here about the camera's picture quality as well as the games and noises. First off, you can definitely adjust the volume of the camera, its under the settings options. Second, this is a cheap children's camera, meant for children. I'm sure the picture quality isn't going to be as good as your $1,500 Digital SLR camera.... but this is for a child, and it works perfectly for a child's standards. The snaps may be a little slow, as well as the shutter speed causing some extended exposure shots with the ghost trails. This doesn't have to be a bad thing, it can be an opportunity for you to explain to your child about how the camera works, and how you need to hold it still while taking a picture. The camera also comes with a free "app" purchase which is little games or graphic effects for the pictures. We picked up the dinosaur graphics package since our son's birthday party was dinosaur themed, and he absolutely loves it. As for the games, I don't think our child has played with them once, he has too much fun taking pictures of Mommy and Daddy and swirling our faces or putting silly graphics on our pictures. Once again, great little camera for a child. If you're going to judge it based on the performance of your Nikon, Cannon, or Sony digital camera, its probably going to come up short. But if you're a 3 year old who is amazed by the magic of taking pictures and editing them, you'll be blown away.

My daughter loved this camera. It's definitely durable and kid-friendly both in it's grip (how it feels in your hands) and the user-interface. The games and photo/editing features are really easy to play with. The video features are definitely a hit with my kids and it has inspired many short films already. The camera also has fun sound effects including music during the games. Best of all, there's an auto shut-off feature so it's not left on. My one thought for improvement is maybe the creation of a sliding cover for the lens because little fingers are always curious about touching that glass and once it's smudged it's hard to clean.
I highly recommend the Kidizoom Camera Connect for your kids (recommended for ages 3-8). My kids have asked for a camera for years and now I have a camera I'm comfortable letting them run wild filling their movie director desires.

From the moment this camera arrived on our doorstep, my son was hooked. In fact, as soon as I got it out of the package, he took off with it and was entertained by it for HOURS. We heard him snapping photos and recording video. In fact, he told his sister that he intended to start his own "vlog". (I have no clue where he even heard that term!)

As a parent, I was impressed with the quality and durability of the camera. My son is 7, so he's on the upper end of the suggested age range; but I love that this camera would be simple enough for a 3 year old to use! And, because of its construction, you aren't scared to hand it over.

I've seen plenty of kiddy cameras before, but never one that allowed for video and voice recording, and also had some built-in games. My son has spent many hours over the past few days totally absorbed by this versatile camera.

While I'm not entirely thrilled with the quality of the pictures, he thinks it's pretty darn impressive.

The camera comes with the usb cord to connect it to the computer and it's very easy to download the pictures. My only "issue" with the camera is the fact that it takes four AA batteries. And they are NOT easy to install! But, I will say that I've been impressed with the battery life, so far. My son has gotten many hours of use out of the set that I first put in. Hopefully they will last a long time and not need replaced often. The automatic shut-off feature will definitely help!

Honestly, the fun factor alone makes this camera worthy of my recommendation. If you're looking for a fun, creative gift to give to a child in your life, I'd recommend checking out the VTech® Kidizoom Camera Connect.

The VTech Kidizoom Camera will keep your kids engaged and happy for a long time. My two girls, ages 6 and 9, love playing with the camera, using the fun clipart frames, and making their own videos. They also like the games, but making videos is, by far, the most fun for them. The voice recorder is also a favorite feature.

The quality of the photos and video are fine for a children's camera and the fun factor makes this camera a great buy for kids. It's durable and, unlike older models, the new version has easier access to change the 4 AA batteries it requires. That's a plus in my book.

This is a good camera. It has several bells and whistles. However, in my mind it is missing a few things. First, the camera does not provide an instant playback after a picture is taken. You must go into the menu options, pressing exactly 4 button presses in order to view a previous picture. Second, the camera has a very slow processor....unless the camera and subject hold perfectly still, the picture will end up blurred. The cheap $28 adult camera I recently bought at Walmart had a faster processor. Even my 6 year old ends up with blurry pictures half the time. Anyhow, that would be my feedback on the camera....hope that helps!

My 2 year old daughter received this as a Christmas gift from her godmother because she loves taking pictures with our camera or from our phone. It is a good camera for a little toddler who knows nothing about picture quality and likes the hear the sound of the camera snapping the picture. I think that's my daughter favorite part. This camera was more of a big hit than the leappad 2 she received for Christmas. It comes with a few games that my daughter isnt really interested in playing and holds quite a few pictures. She just snaps away. Overall I think the camera is a little overpriced. If you get on a sale then great but $40 is too much considering vtech doesn't make good quality toys made to last (my opinion).

I thought my 7 year old was going to think this toy was a little too babyish but I had to literally pry it from his hands at dinner and at bedtime. He had so much fun taking pictures of unsuspecting family members and transforming them into pirates or aliens. He even had more entertainment from the voice recorder and changing them into various pitches. We have not connected this camera to our computer yet but sure that will bring some more fun into his day, but for now he is really enjoying this. My 10 year old played with it a little as well when his brother was not around, don't think he would use it in public but had fun around the house.

Amazon website recommends the incorrect memor card.
I received the câmera and got frustrated that the memory bought based on Amazon's guide was incorrect.
This camera uses Micro-SD memory card.

Your child will certainly not be taking award-winning photographs with this camera, but who cares? My 4-year-old daughter could not be more thrilled with this item. She is taking pictures and videos and having fun scrolling back through them, and she does not care/notice their quality. Best of all, she is now leaving my iPhone alone, which she was previously using for its camera feature. She loves having this at her disposal. I am seeing the price on this fluctuate quite a bit. We paid $24.00 for it which I think is just about right. I wouldn't pay much more than $30.00, though.
