Great Price, Great Phone,

I purchased this same phone except in a "see thru" grey model and have found the phone to be excellent. It is solid, the storage and caller ID features work very well, and I can go all the way around my large yard without cut-out or interference. Although it is a bit bulky for shoulder use, the included headset works well and i don't use the shoulder move anyway,(bad for the neck.) The best thing about the phone is that it is solid, I have 3 little ones and I feel this phone can take the abuse of falling on the floor.

Best Clarity I've Ever Heard; Zero Interference; Good Value.,

This review is from: VTech 920HJ 900 MHz Digital Cordless Phone (Office Product)
I bought this phone because my other non-digital cordless phone was interfering with our baby monitor. The 900MHz transmission is superior to any other phone I've ever heard, digital or otherwise, and this particular phone is priced at the level most non-digital cordless phones. It's manufactured list price was over $200 when it was first released; so, with the rebate offer the Vtech 1920 is less than a quarter its regular purchase price. After using the 1920 for a couple of weeks I liked it so much I purchased another for the office. There we have multiple cordless phones and we move around the building with our phones in hand. I've never had a problem with interference or cut-out. I've gone all the way outside the building into a back alley before the thing stopped transmitting, so being realistic about its capabilities, I'd say that's more than satisfactory. The design is simple and sleek. The base unit is unobtrusive. The handset unit looks as if it is fashioned after most smaller cellular type phones, very straight and a broad gripping area for holding it in your hand. It has volume control built into the side of the handset so that if someone is shouting at the other end you can lower volume without missing the conversation. It has various ringer settings that allow you to control tone/pitch of the ring. This is nice to have when you want more quiet time around the house. Drawbacks are few from my perspective. I did experience the sensation of hitting a punchkey when talking to someone -- at first, but then I learned that this thing isn't like the older phones that required a person to have the receiver right on the ear and mouthpiece IN your mouth; again, it's a lot like a cellular in that regard. Just back-off the handset. I've never had problems the handset since. It just takes a hand to hold it (not a shoulder-- that's difficult because it is so flat of a design). Finally, at work I have the base unit hung on the wall near my desk and I do find it difficult to cradle its handset onto the charger once in a while. No problem if you're taking your time. The battery life I haven't tested but so far so good. Great Product

Horrible echo....,
This review is from: VTech 920HJ 900 MHz Digital Cordless Phone (Office Product)
I recently purchased the vt-1920c from another online retailer. After receiving the phone, we hooked it up to replace our older v-tech 912 analog 900MHz (it has no caller id, which is why we go the 1920). Unfortunately, the older analog phone sounded better (less echo, more incoming voice volume). We sent back the 1920. The only reason I gave the 1920 2 stars is because of its good feature set.

Excelent Product but it has its draw backs,

I recently puchased one of these phones and for the price it is one of the best phones on the market. The only drawback to this phone is that only the handset rings. The base unit is compact and can fit on any small shelf. The battery has a great charge life. I rencently had to leave becasue of hurricane floyd and when I returned after 6 days even though the unit had been unplugged for several days it still had a charge and I was able to use it for a good three hours before having to recharge it. Excellent value and cheaper than anywhere else that I could find

A very mediocre phone...,

The phone is ok, nothing more. The reception from outside callers is fine, but when I talk, my own voice in the earpiece has significant static--it's pretty annoying! The phone is heavier then I thought it would be (Maybe all 900MHZ phone are, my old cordless was analog) and it's not very comfortable when holding it with your shoulder and no hands. I live in a relatively small apartment and was surprised that when I went to another room (maybe 50 feet away) the calls would cut out! And this is why a bought a 900 mhz digital phone! Finally, a complaint would be the apparent inability to program the numbers into memory alphanumerically. In other words, I have to scan through a list of phone numbers, instead of seeing, "Mom and Dad", "Office", etc. I probably would have sent it back, but unfortunately, I tossed the box, so I guess I'll live with it.

I sent this phone back. The handset is heavy and does not feel comfortable in your hand or against your head. The worst was the echo I heard of my own voice. Oh, by the way, the rebate offer expired in 1999. So don't count on that to make this phone worth your money. My advice- pass on it.

i have a small home (1400 sq ft). this phones signal would break up when i would walk from one corner of the house to the other. people i spoke to on the other end complained of static and the frequent "cutting out" of my voice. plus the echo drove me nuts. i'm sending my phone back....not a good deal.

Don't try mounting this phone on a wall. It's very difficult, with one small tab, to get the phone to stay in its cradle. Also, life of nicad battery will be shortened while phone is in cradle, but there is no viable alternative. Phone has poor tone quality and insufficient volume. Also, the $20 rebate offer really expired a month before delivery and did NOT match sample rebate coupon in promotional information. I am sending this unsatisfactory phone back.

This phone is going back this weekend. Very poor coverage within the house (static), the keys stick, and there is not enough volume. You get what you pay for!

This product does not have very good range and it does not fit very well to your ear. Don't count on holding it on your shoulder either. The features are "OK". The phone constantly searches for channels which interrupts conversations when you go outside your house/apartment.
