VTech CS6429-2 DECT 6.0 Digital Two Handset Cordless Answering System with Caller ID
I looked at a lot of different landline phones before I purchased this system and I'm glad I did. The call quality is great, and the ringers are sufficient. The buttons are large and clear and have a great feel to them. They also light up for a little while when you pick the phone up from the base or press a button, so you can see them in the dark. [Yes, the screen lights up as well!] These phones just have a great look and feel to them; They don't feel cheap, and they work perfectly. The main base plugs into a phone jack and a power outlet, but the second phone base only needs a power outlet. You can always add more handsets if you find 2 isn't enough for you. VTech CS6409 DECT 6.0 Accessory handset only requires CS6419, CS6429 or SC6428
Any numbers you add to one handset's phonebook automagically sync with the other one. You can check your voice messages from either handset, or from the main docking station/answering machine. There is an intercom button to call the other handset if you want to talk to someone in a different part of the house. [or office, I guess] Each handset has it's own speakerphone speaker that works very well and simply; You just push the speaker button on the handset to toggle between speakerphone or regular phone. When you miss a call, it tells you how many you missed on each handset until you scroll down and view them through the caller ID. [on the handset]
The menu is well-organized and easy to navigate. I bought this phone primarily as a house-phone for my father, who had previously owned several cell-phones over the past decade and always hated trying to use them. From the small buttons, to the poor call quality, to not being able to check his messages or missed calls, he was constantly frustrated with his cellphone. He usually chose not to or forgot take it with him if he went anywhere anyways, so I thought it was time to try out a landline phone instead. I'm mentioning this because although my father is almost 70 years old and had a stroke in 2001, he has not had trouble getting used to this phone and now he actually gets all his missed calls and messages!
I only have one minor complaint about this system: When you listen to your voice messages, it quickly tells you the date and time the message was left, [awesome], then plays the message, [still fine], but then when it's over you don't get a chance to delete it. You have to either delete it before the message is over, or you have to press play again and then delete it before the message is over. You can also press the big delete X twice to just delete all old messages, but you might not want to delete them all. It's kind of a small thing, but it would be nice if it just gave you a second or two after the message plays to delete it. Oh yeah, and don't forget that if the power goes out, a cordless phone won't work at all. Overall, this is a fantastic, quality phone system that I highly recommend!

I am more please with this phone set that I can say. The speaker phone works great and the range is awesome. I wanted this set because of the intercom feature and it turns out the range is so good that I can keep a handset way out in my shop and my wife and I use the intercom system to communicate so we don't have to use our cell phone if we need to ask each other a question. And, in my shop, the sound quality is as good as it is in the house. The other great feature I was not expecting is the ability to retrieve messages from any handset so I do not have to go to the recorder to check for and retrieve a message. I can just sit there and play and or delete messages from where ever I am at.
I cannot think of a negative thing to say!

Bought this product to replace an aging VTECH 3-Phone-only system. Wanted to keep the Speed Dialing feature, which this new DECT 6.0 setup also has. (rare these days)
What I like BEST about these new phones is that you can manage your answering machine messages remotely, and with any handset, as well. All have speaker-phone and Intercom ability, and you can add up to two more handsets.
Also these new handsets seem to remain charged-up a whole lot longer, when left away from their base. Haven't had one run down on me yet.
What I DON'T like is that I can't look up a phone number entry, either Directory or Caller ID, while also on a call. Even a handset that you are not using will not display any information. Probably a rare need, though.
If you need a system that will handle more than 5 handsets, or want to automatically sync-in your cell phone when it's in range of the base (Bluetooth units) or don't care for a slightly dreary-looking greenish handset display, then I would definitely look further.
Myself, I'm glad I have these.

Crystal clear voices are the norm, despite a lot of wireless signals flying around our house. Digital answering machine and caller ID work as expected and phone operation is straightforward and directions are not difficult. Overall, these are very good phones and answering machine for the price.

We've had this set for over 2 years now, and we have not yet had any problems with any of it yet. We have not had to replace any of the batteries to date. I did follow the instructions to the T in fully charging each handset for the recommended amount of time. Also, we TRY to remember to always put them back on the charger(s) when we are finished talking, or at least within a few hours. This is the first phone set we've owned that we haven't had problems with the battery life. Besides this very important detail, the other reasons why I really like this are:
-No problems with static;
-Signal stays strong even after about 15 feet outside, which is about 25 feet from nearest base
-Long, long talk time. Of course, when using the speaker option, talk time is reduced before needing to charge/switch handsets. The phone will alert you with beeping to let you know the battery is dying, and gives enough time to put on charger during conversation and switch to other handset;
-Speaker option is plenty loud enough;
-Digital answering system suits our needs, although I sometimes need to press the "Delete" button very hard (the design is weird, has a circular button into which the delete, play, skip and repeat buttons are integrated); I would have preferred simple buttons as opposed to the current design. I am used to it now, and all of the other features make it a non-issue for me;
-Handsets are lightweight and bases take up minimal space;
-Have placed phone on bathroom counter while showering so wouldn't miss important call and have had no problems from any moisture from the steam;
-I enjoy all of the options in the manufacturer's product description, including the "find handset" feature when I realize one of us didn't put the phone back on the charger, the backlit features, the adjustable ring sounds, and address book built in to each handset;
-Again, though, what I especially love the most is that the batteries have lasted as long as they have thus far. I don't know if it is because we didn't use any of the handsets until they had FULLY charged according to the manufacturer's instructions, or if we were just EXTREMELY fortunate.
Overall, this set meets all of our needs and then some!
You cannot use these to call others in outer space.

These are nice looking phones. They also have great sound quality and the speakerphone is loud. Two things I find bad are 1) If you leave a phone off the charger for a day, it dies completely. Every single one of them, the battery is cheap. 2) You cannot name each phone. With our old ones we could input text like kitchen, bedroom, office. No doing that with these. I wish I would have not purchased these phones. Mostly due to the poor battery life.

The sound quality on the VTech Cordless Phone is pretty good, but you really have to keep it on the base when not in use. If you ever forget, the battery drains within a day, whether or not you're talking on the phone very much. And it's super slow to charge. Several hours after placing it on the base, it still reads "Low Battery" when the handset is picked up. Basically, that means you can't use it.
If it's going to be so fast to drain, you'd imagine they'd make it fast to charge too. No such luck.
UPDATE: As if just to spite me, immediately after I wrote this review, the battery completely crapped out and would not take a charge again, so I have not been able to use this phone at all since. As it was already several months after the return date, I contacted Amazon to see what they could do for me. I'm happy to say they dealt with the issue fast and efficiently. I have some replacement batteries on the way to me now.

I have had this brand in the past and loved it but this particular phone package failed to "wow" me. The overall design is nice and buttons are easy to use but the reason I am giving this one star is because after 2 weeks one of the 4 handsets died while on the charger. I moved it to another charger without any luck of getting it to function again. A few weeks later a second handset went out same situation. So now we are down to two handsets out of the 4 we purchased. I would return them all but don't have the original packaging since I did not figure we would have an issue. So needless to say I would not purchase these again.

I have had this 2 phone hand set about 5 months and one of the batteries already stopped charging. I was shocked to see how much a replacement battery costs... almost as much as new handset. I was told by a sales person that Vtech was known for its short battery life. I owned a Vtech before for over 6 years and never had battery issues . they certainly don't make them like they used to.
