Use the system's intercom feature to make conference calls, and take advantage of smart dialing from caller ID to call people back without having to enter their numbers. Other key features include any-key answer, backlit keypad and display, mute, and 2.5 mm headset compatibility (for hands-free conversations).
Digital spread spectrum technology uses a wider bandwidth than standard 900 MHz transmission, casting the data that makes your conversations across multiple frequency points and at greater power than do traditional cordless phones. This increases your phone's range, enhances its immunity to noise and interference, and heightens its ability to prevent eavesdropping.
You can expand the VTech v2656 system to a total of four handsets using only a single, standard phone jack (three additional v2600 handsets not included), and you can station the additional handsets just about anywhere in your home. The included handset and the optional handsets communicate through the base unit and can each function as speakerphones and also allow handset-to-handset communication. Each handset offers programmable ringer types.

Great Phone for the Money,
By A Customer
This review is from: VTech v2656 2.4 GHz DSS Expandable Cordless Speakerphone with Digital Answering System (Office Product)
Just pick up this phone and an extra 2600 handset as a bundle for less than $80. I haven't experienced any of the problems mentioned in the other reviews. Voice quality is very good without any interference problem throughout my house. We have 802.11b running on the 2.4GHz band too. They coexist beautifully. While this phone doesn't have the latest features like color screen or multiphonic ring tone, it has the key features that I was looking for namely handset speakphone, handset-to-handset intercom and alphanumeric directory. The phone is compact and light weight, and looks a lot better than any Panasonic phones. It also has an ingenious belt clip that tugs away when not in use. The answering machine's voice quality can be better but this is a universal problem for all these devices with limited memory space.

Can't hear a thing!,

This review is from: VTech v2656 2.4 GHz DSS Expandable Cordless Speakerphone with Digital Answering System (Office Product)
I am not hard of hearing, but I cannot seem to hear well on this phone. I have two handsets and they're both the same. I can hear my voice echo back at me like I'm in a well and it's very distracting. In addition, the base handset will receive calls, but I can't get a dial tone to dial out. We've only had the phones for a few months, and I'm really disappointed. I'm online in search of a better phone.
