4.0 out of 5 stars Good laptop for a four year old
We bought this for our 5 year old for Christmas, she is very into computers, leapsters, iphones, etc. While the laptop is very "realistic" with the keyboard and mouse, the screen is tiny and the graphics are corny. So far she doesn't seem to mind, we will see how long it holds her interest. Not bad for the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed!
A few things to know before you buy: 1. The screen is tiny, which may not bother your child, but you will not have an easy time learning how to use it yourself. Which brings me to... 2. It is not easy to use, don't expect your child to figure it out on their own! 3. The graphics are terrible, which, in addition to the tiny screen display makes learning to use it that much...

No color! 5. No backlight on the screen, at all! Because of all of this... #6. My daughter (5yrs + 4mo old) had not intrest in this toy at all. She is very bright and knows how to use our personal computer, that may be why this was so dissapointing to her. We are sending it back and she is not upset at all! There are many, much better products out there for learning games. Don't waste your money on this one! I should have just bought her a learning game for our computer, and that is probably what I will do to replace this gift for her.

This toy is great for expanding a child's learning limits. They find it very fun and enjoyable. The kids will likely want to play with it everyday, which is actually a good thing once they are done with homework. It helps to expand and further explain and give practice on what they are learning in school and even put them in front of all the other kids by educating them ahead of their age.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It, May 26, 2010

My daughter got this for Christmas when she was 4. She always played on my laptop, and was pretty successful at navigating. This laptop is not user friendly. The graphics are horrible - very pixelated + small screen size. The built in mouse was very hard for her to use - she did better with the one you can attach, but she still became quite frustrated. The games were pretty boring as well. We ended up buying her a netbook for her birthday. I would recommend anyone else do the same.

It looks like a nice little pretend laptop and the games can be interesting for younger kids, the product's age appropiate label was 5-8 it is more like for 6 and under.. My son is 8 and he only spend a couple of hours total with this toy..

I got this notebook for my 6 year old nephew, and I thought it would be fun for him to learn on this laptop. Unfortunately the screen is not backlit very well (or at all?), so it's very hard to see anything. It is too bad that something with so much potential is mostly useless thanks to the display.

very disappointed with this product. Every v tech item I have purchased for my daughter I have been pleased with but I do have to agree with others. The screen is very tiny, dull and boring. Although there are many different learning games it doesn't keep my daughters attention for too long. this is probably more appealing to a three or four year old!! Also price should be lowered to $19.99 for what its worth..Overall I would wait for the price to be lowered to consider purchasing this item for anyone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for an educational "toy", December 17, 2011

I originally bought the V-Tech Grade School Learning Notebook (in pink) for my then just turned 7 year old grand-daughter so she would have her "own" laptop when she stayed with us or came to visit. We also bought the V-Tech Nitro Junior for her younger sister. Both girls ended up playing with both laptops / notebooks without the familiar tunes of "I'm bored!" Today they are 8 and 10 yet they both still enjoying playing with these games. We have all been impressed with the amount of knowledge they gleaned and how quickly they are now able to answer basic math problems. We attribute much of their success to these educational devices. Gone are the days of extra worksheets and assignments for those kids who need a boost in school ;-) I have been impressed with the value of the VTech educational "games".

The screen is too small and you can't see a thing. Even in a brightly lit room, the screen is not clear at all. Total waste of money. Don't even think of buying this product
