3.0 out of 5 stars Will they ever make more games for this?
My daughter got this when she was younger and enjoyed it for a few months. She quickly outgrew it and started playing the Wii, so I put it away for a couple of years. Well my son is 3 now so I decided to set it up again. I figured I would see what new games are available since we last used the system and low and behold the same 7 games we already have are the only ones...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great entertainment for competetive sibliings, December 26, 2006
This review is from: VTech V.Flash Home Edutainment System (Toy)
We bought this system (and three game cartridges) for our 6 1/2 and 8 year old sons after doing much research. We would have preferred to purchase a Leap Frog product (our sons each own a Leapster and all the Leapster cartridges) but we were disappointed that Leap Frog didn't offer anything comparable for this age group. We couldn't find many online consumer reviews for the VFalsh system so we were counting on VTech's reputation. My husband and I "tested" the system before Christmas just to make sure it would work with our 13 year old television (we had to plug it into our VCR to work) and to check out the quality of the system.

Our 8 yar old wanted a Game Boy for Christmas again this year (fourth year in a row) and we knew we could get a VFlash system for the same cost. For the past three years, we were able to keep him entertained with the Leap Frog Leapster system (which we described as "an educational Game Boy") but this year, we had to move away from Leap Frog because he already had all the Leapster game cartridges and there were no new games for his age group. We bought the VFlash system because of it's educational features.

Both of our sons absolutely LOVE the VFlash and so do we! I think they had low expectations because it was an educational system but once they got into each of the games (Scooby Doo, Spiderman and Sponge Bob), they kept saying "Mom, this is FUN!" They even like the Jumping Bean game, which had gotten so-so reviews. The thing I really like about the system is that they can play together in a NON-COMPETIVE way. The VFlash system determines whose turn it is (player 1 or player 2) and the corresponding controller becomes active/inactive so there is no arguing between the boys over whose turn it is or that one "played" the other's turn. And the way the games are structured, it is advantageous for the players to HELP each other because the scores are cumulative based on each player's contribution to the overall score.

This system is a WIN-WIN for both children and parents! I am already planning to buy the "Incredibles"and "Cars" game cartridges when they are released in early 2007.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great affordable gaming unit, December 27, 2006
This review is from: VTech V.Flash Home Edutainment System (Toy)
My 2 girls ages 7 & 6 played with this all day on Christmas. I was pretty impressed with the graphics from a system at this price. I also really appreciate the discs being in a protective plastic case so they cannot be damaged by little hands. I also love that the controller can be switched for right or left handed players, or however you prefer. I even loved playing along with the kids. The girls are already asking for another game. It comes with a game called "Jumping Beans" that helped them with spelling and math. There is also some games that deal with geography and creating a dancing cartoon character and a 3D vehicle...all enjoyed by my kids. Of course the graphics are nothing compared to a Sony Playstation or X Box, but for younger kids its just the right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even younger can learn and enjoy this game system., February 20, 2007
This review is from: VTech V.Flash Home Edutainment System (Toy)
My four year old saw the advertisements for this game system right before Christmas(2006). I wasn't sure if I should get it for him because of his age but was willing to give it a try since he has proved me wrong before. My son absolutely loves this game system as much as his V. Smile. He plays both of them and still wants more game for each. I was very surprised at the type of things the children learn with this game system. Imagine my surprise to see my four year old locating the continents on a map of the world while playing this game. I highly recommend this game to all parents.

Even if this thing has been discontinued, I'm still happy with my purchase. My 7 year old son received this for Christmas last year and LOVES it. To this date, he nor his 9 year old sister have asked for an Xbox, Playstation, or the like; they're happy with this. It's been through a move and has been used and abused by the two kids as well. It has held up very well! The Spongebob game was too difficult for my son and he gave up on it quickly, but Scooby-Doo has been a hit and the kids are really excited to point out that the game teaches them as they go. Hopefully by buying this system, I've managed to also buy myself a few more years before they start asking for the $400 systems....!

I received this about 3 weeks ago and my 7 y.o. (who is a computer and video game wiz kid) loves this!! It is quite educational and it has held his interest for up to 2 hours at a time. I am very pleased with the design and durrability of the discs is unmatched anywhere in the industry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for Boy 8 and Girl 6, December 28, 2006
This review is from: VTech V.Flash Home Edutainment System (Toy)
We got this system for our kids for Christmas. Our son is 8 and our daughter is 6. They have been begging for a game system and we finally gave in.

The games are fun and they even throw in some education.

We have only had it a few days, so I do not know if it will hold their attention for a long time. The games are a little pricey, but they should come down some.

The only Con would be the lack of games right now. Hopefully, more will come out soon.

My daughter got this when she was younger and enjoyed it for a few months. She quickly outgrew it and started playing the Wii, so I put it away for a couple of years. Well my son is 3 now so I decided to set it up again. I figured I would see what new games are available since we last used the system and low and behold the same 7 games we already have are the only ones still available. I am guessing they stopped making them. I am sure my son and daughter will enjoy it for a couple of weeks, but playing the same games will get boring. I love that they have to answer an educational fact to move on, but I do find controlling the characters to be a little difficult. With a normal system you have much more of a range to move about but with this it is a little tricky to go exactly where you want to go. I only give this 3 stars only because there are only 7 games for it. I love that the games only reveal the cd when they are in the system so the kids can not scratch them. What an ingenious idea. Sad they no longer make games for it though.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC SYSTEM, January 26, 2007
This review is from: VTech V.Flash Home Edutainment System (Toy)
THIS IS A GREAT STEP UP FROM THE V.SMILE. YOU CAN TELL BY THE GRAPHICS AND HOW MUCH FASTER THE GAME PROGRESSES, THAT IT IS INTENDED FOR OLDER KIDS. VERY EDUCATIONAL GAME CONTENT. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE LACK OF GAMES THE COMPANY HAS RELEASED. HIGHLY RECOMMEDED, ALL GAMES RELEASED ARE GREAT.

this is a great system that is very kid friendly. easy to set up and easy to play. i love that the disc are incased in a plastic cover that protects the game from dirt scratches and dirty fingers. kids can easily change from game to game. my kids are 6 and 8 just so you know that they need little to no help with this system. I would recomend this to any one with kids 5- 10.
