5.0 out of 5 stars great phone
If I could, I would give it 10 stars! I recieved this phone for christmas, charged it and hooked it up. Its extremely easy to use, and the calls are clear and crisp with no interference whatsoever. I find this wonderful because in my room when I use the other cordless, there is always bad interference with the neighbors. This phone is made tough, cool looking, and an...

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice design but poor electronics!
I ordered this phone based on the positive reviews I read here. The phone is really sharp looking and seems sturdy, but the sound quality is terrible. There is an almost constant hissing static (especially when I'm talking - it's like when it's transmitting out). I placed in the same location of my old GE cordless phone (also a 900mz and clear as a bell), so I don't...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, solid phone..., October 8, 2002

I purchased two of these, one for my home office and one for my son's room. I had read 5 star reviews on it, it looked great, and it was clearanced! After it arrived, it took no time to set up. I had a hard time getting the plate off for loading the batteries, but things were fine after that. With an overnite charge, it has been performing great. Very clear and strong, local or long distance. An adapter for wall display is only "extra" included; which is more than enough if you want a great-looking, high-performing phone with an incredibly low clearance price.

There is an almost constant hissing static (especially when I'm talking - it's like when it's transmitting out). I placed in the same location of my old GE cordless phone (also a 900mz and clear as a bell), so I don't think that's the problem. It's going back!

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid well-made phone, February 1, 2003
By
Tom Swift "boy inventor" (New York, New York United States) - See all my reviews
I bought two some months ago, kept one and gave one as a gift. The price was the same as Amazon's but with a rebate that brought it down to half the price.

Aside from the 10 position memory for one-button dialing, there is provision for using a headset (not included), changing the volume, changing the channel to improve reception.

The quality for the price is exceptionally good, complete with "rubberized" buttons for a good touch when dialing.

One reviewer was disappointed that his phone "failed" after the battery died from two years worth of use. It should be noted that even a battery that can be recharged will eventually expire...and it can be replaced.

The only odd feature, compared to other cordless phones I have had, is that there are two buttons, one to turn it on ("Talk") and one to turn it off ("Off"). Other phones I have had use one button to initiate and terminate the call.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just thought I'd mention, January 11, 2003
By A Customer
Hey, just thought I'd inform everyone that they might want to reconsider a Vtech phone. I had mine for about 2 years, and over the last 6 months I had it, it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 10 minutes - and then shut off. I would charge it for over 24 hours and then use it - and nothing but 5-10 minutes. I recently got a new phone for Christmas, and we trashed the old one. The new one is a Motorola Disney Princess phone - which, if I can find on Amazon, I will give 5 stars to. The new phone is great - fits my face comfortably, has great volume and sound, cute ringers, fits my hand well, has caller I.D, and comes on a stand-up base that I never thought to be better before, but is really convenient to not have to worry about laying it down against the charger correctly (no clicking it into the right spot in the dark). My phone was in the mid-$$ range at Target, and well worth it. I recommend my phone - or any Motorola - over than a Vtech.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware of poor out of warranty offered from VTech, November 23, 2002
By A Customer
Anyone thinking of buying any VTech phone (some can get pricey) should know that the warranty is good for 1 year, period! If your product fails after 365 days then plan to buy another. The repair will cost $... plus you pay shipping (there are no drop-off authorized centers) and chances are MORE than the original price you paid for the item. Also, one Tuff Fone had to be exchanged since it would not charge properly, this now works perfect. I just found out the 2nd phone has a similar charging problem as the one exchanged but since I didn't expect another problem and kept it boxed for more than a year as a spare phone it doesn't pay to do anything other than throw it out.

By
yoface (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: VTech VT9117 900 MHz High Frequency Analog Cordless Phone (Office Product)
we bought this phone about a year ago and it is so great its very inexpensive and the quality is outstanding. the sound is still crisp and clear it still works from anywhere in my house, etc. but the most amazing thing abt this phone, is its nicknamed the "tuff phone" well it lives up to its name my family has thrown it dropped it down stairs evrything, you name it, they droped it down it. but it is still working amazingly. it is my belif that with anyother phone this could not b possible, and in a family like mine with 3 kids, we woulda had to buy a new phone every 2 months. thanx Vtech.
