The VXB double-sealed, 8mm-axle radial ball bearing has symmetric races to support radial loads while maintaining high speeds and rotational accuracy and is manufactured to work in skateboards. The bearing conforms to the precision standard Annular Bearing Engineers Committee (ABEC) 5 for performance within a narrow range of variation, and its deep grooves make it capable of supporting heavier loads than standard grooves and keeping the Si3N4 (silicon nitride) ceramic balls stable at high speeds. Its stainless-steel cage evenly spaces the rollers balls for even load distribution and prevents contact to reduce friction, vibrations, and noise, and to extend the life of the bearing. The bearing has rubber seals on both sides to keep lubricant in and dust and other contaminants out. The bearing has a 22mm OD and measures 7mm wide. The bearing is suitable for use in skateboards, longboards, and inline skates, among others.
Rolling bearings use rolling elements to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. These elements can be one of the following types: ball, cylindrical, spherical, barrel, needle, spindle, or tapered. All rolling bearings are open, shielded, or sealed. Sealed bearings are lubricated with oil or grease in the bearing factory, while open and shielded bearings are meant to be lubricated in place, with periodic reapplication of lubrication, based on use. The shield protects the working parts of the bearing from environmental debris that may be introduced and could reduce the ball bearing speed and lifespan. Rolling bearings are used in a range of applications from agricultural machinery to conveying equipment, robotics, dental equipment, elevators, rolling mills, ship rudder shafts, and aggregate crushers, among others.
VXB distributes ball bearings. The company, founded in 1958, is headquartered in Anaheim, CA.

I'm gonna put my old bearings in and return these. They aren't worth the $17 I spent, much less the $50 retail price when they aren't on sale.
Sorry VXB, I was really hoping to give some props to a California based company, but I cannot do that in good faith.
dragging my feet on swapping these bearings out actually worked out. They stopped squeaking and are holding up pretty darn good so far. The wheels roll freely and I no longer have any complaints. I don't understand how a bearing can get better with use and time but these did. Rating raised from 2 to 4 stars
