5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfection of "Keeping-It-Simple"., February 4, 2003

This is the most valuable and useful gadget I own. I'd be lost without it! There are hundreds of voice recorders on the market, but this one is THE BEST, because 1)It's so simple - the buttons are tactile so you don't need to look at it - ever. And there's only ONE keypress to start recording, and ONE to stop. 2) It's tiny - not much bigger than a business card. It's very thin. 3) It's durable. I've put mine through complete hell, and it works like a charm. You can drop it a thousand times. And, despite being so thin, it's still sturdy enought to not "bend" under pressure.

Sound quality is fine (for voice). Batteries last a year, even with frequent use.

And my favorite feature, for all you city-dwellers - sound quality is fine if you bring it right up to your mouth and whisper, pretending you have an itch. Which is exactly what you want to do in a public place, so people don't think you're a freak.

90 seconds goes a long way, if you speak succinctly. But if you need more, the VT300 model records 4 minutes, has a few more features, but is much thicker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Voice It - Recorder, December 1, 2000

My husband and I own three of these. They are great for those of us who are "memory challenged." My husband is a real estate broker and he keeps one in his car to record property listing phone numbers and addresses (for lease/sale signs). I keep mine on the visor to remind myself of the things I think of while I am sitting in traffic! I also use it for my grocery/shopping lists.

I also taped the instructions on the back of mine (a previous reviewer did the same). My only dissatisfaction with mine is that the cover for the battery case kept popping off so I taped it closed. This recorder is thin and lightweight and is very easy to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended for those with Porous Memories, January 14, 2002
This review is from: VXI-Voice It VT90 Personal Note Digital Voice Recorder (Office Product)
With a life on the run, and a mind that runs away, I find myself always in need of a scrap of paper and a pen to jot down fleeing thoughts. "Voice It" has helped simplified my beleaguered world by giving me the quick ability to capture my retreating memories. Now, when I have a `brain burp', and need to remember that which I will undoubtable forget, I just grab this little black device, punch record, and retain that brilliant thought that will bring forth the next great invention for our generation - like "buy T.P.."

The VT90 is a solid performer, and the battery life has improved significantly over the first models. The sound quality is adequate, its playback volume (though not adjustable) is sufficient and the microphone sensitivity is appropriate. I like the layout of the buttons. They are tactical and easily felt when driving or in the dark of night. I often leave my VT90 by my bed side where I can reach pick it up and capture my last thought before sleep. I also found the "Voice It" to be a great device for recording your dreams in the middle of the night.

In the earlier models of "Voice It" the batteries were difficult to find (AAAA), expensive and last only a few weeks; now ""Voice It"" has been designed to use four lithium batteries (included) and they can last for a month or two.

I commend "Voice It" for all those with porous memories, those looking for a very small, easy to use pocket record. Recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars This one's worth it., November 24, 2000

Bought this for my wife for Christmas last year. She really likes it. She keeps it on the visor in the car to record all her "honey do's" as she's out and about. My son-in-law now wants one to jot down business reminders he thinks of while on the road. It's quite convenient to use, but I pasted a copy of the instructions on the back for the memory challenged like I (am).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for what it is., January 14, 2002
This review is from: VXI-Voice It VT90 Personal Note Digital Voice Recorder (Office Product)
I used to have a different model by Voice It that used AAAA batteries (yes, that's 4 A's), but I finally stopped using it because they were too hard to find. One day my neighbor, a steel construction foreman, and I were talking about how great they are, and told him that I don't use mine anymore. He gave me an old one of his, a VT90, whose battery door kept falling off. I went down and picked up some new ones and taped the door shut with packing tape. That was over 6 months ago, and it's still doing pretty well.

I find the 90 second total record time pretty short, but this is still OK for helping you to remember those fleeting ideas as you're driving along and just can't jot it down. It fills up fast for me, so I keep my messages brief, just enough to remind myself of them later.

The sound quality is decent, but not great. After a couple of times spending 10 minutes or more struggling to decipher earlier reminders, I replay messages right after recording them to make sure they're intelligible. Sometimes I have to re-record them, but that whole operation still only takes a few seconds.

The mike pickup is good. You don't have to hold it close to your mouth. You can use it without taking your hands off the steering wheel or your eyes the road. It's simple to use, and with just a little practice you're an expert. I never needed to read any instructions.

If you want to use this to ramble on about screenplays, or keep a personal journal, don't get this. But for the price, it's a good little tool to give yourself quick reminders, and it's very easy to use.

PS: The batteries cost me about $... total at K-Mart. I recommend a little tape on the door -- if it slips out of your pocket, the door comes off, and the batteries pop out, all your voice notes gone forever.

I have carried the VT-90 for over 6 years and only needed to change the batteries (the lithium type) twice. I recently misplaced the unit and have been LOST without my quick and easy note taker. I use it while on the hands-free cell phone while driving to repeat numbers or important phrases given to me in conversation. At meetings or receptions I use it to record contact names and/or numbers. I use it to record phone numbers, www.addresses or other information from radio or billboard ads. It is very easy to carry with me all the time to jot down those momentary thoughts, ideas or "oh my gosh-things I need to do stuff". As a quick verbal note pad - it can't be beat. I generally capture my notes later on my To-do list....it was easy to find a replacement on Amazon!

This is a great little voice recorder to have! It is handy in situations where it would be impractical or impossible to jot down notes. The voice recorder is quite small and lightweight. It is quite user friendly. The sound quality is excellent. This is the nicest voice recorder I ever had!

5.0 out of 5 stars Will never die, December 14, 2004
This review is from: VXI-Voice It VT90 Personal Note Digital Voice Recorder (Office Product)
Okay read the other reviews for how it works. I have had mine for eight years. I have dropped it, washed it with the clothes, exposed it to heat, cold, had my two year old play with it, lost it for six months under the sofa, and sat on it a few thousand times. IT STILL WORKS. For taking quick notes, it can't be beat. It will not die...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good (for what it is)., January 14, 2002

I used to have a different model by Voice It that used AAAA batteries (yes, that's 4 A's), but I finally stopped using it because they were too expensive and too hard to find.

One day my neighbor and I were talking about how great they are, and when I told him why I don't use mine anymore, he gave me an old one of his, a VT90, whose battery door kept falling off. I went down and picked up some new batteries and taped the door shut with packing tape. That was over 6 months ago; it still works great.

The memory is small, but enough to help me remember those fleeting ideas I get as I'm driving along and can't jot down. Those 90 seconds fill up fast, so I keep messages brief, just enough to remind myself later. When I get home I add them to a text file on my PC, or write them in my planner, and then erase them to free up space.

The sound quality is decent, but not great. A couple of times I've spendt 10 minutes or more struggling to decipher messages; now I always replay messages right after recording them to make sure I can understand them. If you have to re-record something it only takes a few seconds. The mike pickup is good -- you don't have to hold it close to your mouth.

It's simple to use, and with just a little practice you're an expert. I never needed to read any instructions. And you can use it while driving without taking your hands off the steering wheel, or your eyes the road.

To sum up: If you want to use this to ramble on about screenplays, or keep a personal journal, you're better off with a pricier model or a cassette recorder. But for the price, it's a good little tool to give yourself quick reminders, and it's very easy to use.

PS: It takes 4 lithium batteries (which can be a little costly). I recommend taping the door -- if it slips out of your pocket and hits the floor, the door will probably come off; the batteries will pop out, and all your voice notes will be lost forever.
