Truly The Voice Of The Young People,
This review is from: VYP: Voice of the Young People (Audio CD)
I have to say Lil'Mama did a good job with this CD, she's just so real and she don't forget where she comes from. That's what I Love about her so much, people might think Oh she's ghetto but she has a good head on her shoulder.
Stand out tracks: The single "Shawty Get Loose" feat. Chris Breezy and hook king T-Pain, "L.I.F.E", "College" feat. Virayah, "Broken Pieces", "Pick it up"......... Go copy it, trust not a waste of money!

If you saw Lil Mama in the cipher on 2007's BET Hip Hop Awards then you know, without a doubt that she can spit with the best. She upholds the East Coast traditions of storytelling, of opening up your innermost self naked to the public and of keeping it street.
She lapses into cliches too often -- does she really need to remind us she's the "Voice Of The Young People" on EVERY track? - but there's no doubt she'll become better with time. Like just about every pop and hip hop CD, VYP's main problem is that there's too much filler clogging up the middle of the disc. Three or four songs could have been jettisoned and you'd have a tighter CD. Parents, you can safely buy this for your kids if they're fairly mature. There's no profanity, but some of the material about her upbringing might be too heavy for the younger set. However, I can honsetly say that grown-up hiphoppers need have no fear of "Lip Gloss". It is NOT representative of the cd as a whole.
