A Unique, Amazing Sound,
By iviary (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Va (Audio CD)
The first time I listened to this CD, it just seemed odd. But then, it wasn't at all what I was expecting. On the second listen, my feet started tapping a bit. By now, I've listened to it innumerable times, and it has become one of my favorite albums of all time. The band's celtic roots are extremely apparent in every song, but they cast an extremely unique twist on the traditional. This summer, I enjoyed the opportunity to attend fiddle classes taught by Boyd MacNeil, a member of Slainte Mhath, and the experience only added to my respect for the band. They're doing something new with the music, while bringing young people into the celtic music scene, which is absolutely necessary in order for it to thrive and survive.

Excellent Celtic Rock!,

I must admit, I was very skeptical of this group when I first heard of them. I am a fan of the Barra MacNeils, and when I heard their little brothers had formed a group I was expecting some sort of knockoff of the Barras. However, when I gave Slainte Mhath a try, I was shocked. This is nothing like the Barras, and yet I love it even more! If you are looking to try something new and different, look no further. This blend of traditional Celtic music with pop/rock undertones is just plain fun and will definitely get you dancing!

This band was recommended to me by a friend, and at first I was pretty skeptical, but like the rest of the reviewers, it quickly became a favorite. This is pretty amazing stuff, I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for listen-able Celtic music.

What a great CD! These kids can really rock the Celtic sound. They can shine in the traditional sound as well. I enjoy playing my copy any time I'm feeling blue. I'm definitely going to purchase another Slainte Mhath CD.

I saw this band on tour last year and they were awesome! So, naturally, I was super excited when I found out I could buy their albums online! The CD is wicked! The blend of celtic, funk and disco is so unique and creative combo. If you buy this, order 2 and give one to a friend. I guarantee you'll love it.

Moran Tang Slainte Mhath!,
This review is from: Va (Audio CD)
I bought this cd because of Annie. There are a couple other songs that are just as cool and experimental, the rest are just plain ol' awesome Cape Breton sound.I particularly liked Ox, which is one of the most rhythmic guitar pieces I've heard in a long time and certainly not something I expected to hear on a Celtic-fusion cd. |
