A life-saver!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Vaastu Workbook: Using the Subtle Energies of the Indian Art of Placement (Paperback)
This book really saved me from disaster. I was suffering from bad health and many financial difficulties that almost led me to take my life. When I understood that the Southwest defect in my house was the cause of all my troubles, I immediately corrected the defect and, in my case, the results were so dramatic that it probably saved my life.

Finally, a well presented Vaastu book that helped me decipher the science of properly setting up a home for spiritual balance and physical well-being. One of the best features of this book was the Vaastu score sheet that helped me assess and redesign my home step-by-step.

My comments of Vaastu Workbook,

A well-written book indeed that clearly explains Vaastu - the Indian home design method that is beginning to overtake feng shui due to its precision and practicality. The writing is very easy to understand despite the fact that some of the ideas are very complex. Since the author has related his own personal experience, the results are more authentic.

I congratulate Dr. Talavane Krishna for clearly explaining the inner meaning of Vaastu Purusha story. I had read several Vaastu books before and this is the first time that I understand how to apply these concepts.

For the first time, a book that explains the relationships between Vaastu, Ayurveda and astrology as well as helping the reader apply the Vaastu principles in your home based on governing planetary positions.

A good, basic introduction,

Lucidly explains the principles of vaastu, but does not completely satisfy, primarily because the author seems intent to keep this a brief introduction. Certain chapters need greater extrapolation.
That said, if you want a basic primer on vaastu principles, have no worries about starting here.

This review is from: The Vaastu Workbook: Using the Subtle Energies of the Indian Art of Placement (Paperback)
The author has devoted a great deal of time to the study of Vaastu and he did his best to present the knowledge well. However, a portion of the information in this book is erroneous and based on superstition rather than fact. He cites the Brihat Samhita which is not really a complete Vaastu Shastra. It is a piecemeal review of a few vaastu principles many of which are erroneous. The Brihat Samita is more of an astrology text than a Vaastu text and cannot be fully relied upon for knowledge on Vaastu Shastras. Vaastu has nothing to do with astrology. You can read 32 Vaastu Shastras and you will find only one reference to astrology in most of them. It simply does not apply. In spite of this fact, many people attempt to say that the sun, moon and stars are the source of vaastu energy - they aren't.
He states that the Mayamata (the most ancient text on Vaastu written by Mayan) was only discovered in the late 1930's. This is not correct. Families of the Vishwakarma clan (Vishwabrahmins who are traditional architects, builders, goldsmiths, sculptors, furniture makers etc.) have had palm leaf copies of the Mayamata and Mayagama in their possession for thousands of years and still do. The author clearly means well but is not fully informed. One of the problems with modern Vaastu is that people are studying with others who are not of the Vishwakarma or related traditions. The only people one should study with are traditional Shilpi Gurus or their representatives - there is only one living Shilpi Guru - Dr. V. Ganapati Sthapati. The author makes an honest attempt to show that building from the ground up is the best way to get a good vaastu house. He has taken a step away from using Vaastu as a sort of Indian Feng Shui and I applaud him for that. He has a pleasant writing style and presents the information in an orderly way. One reviewer wished she had not gotten the book because it only suggests building from the ground up. There is another solution for people who own homes that cannot be rectified - that is they can build a small Vaastu Temple cottage in their back yard that will radiate positive Vaastu energy into the plot. This is a wonderful solution for people who can't build a new house. see How To Build A Backyard Vaastu Temple Cottage. This book may be worth a read if you understand that it isn't completely correct and continue your search for real vaastu. Indian Sculpture & Iconography This is an amazing book which along with Building Architecture of Sthapatya Veda will give you a great deal of knowledge.

We are in the process of building a home and I went through several vastu books. This is a very well written vastu book. It has clearly identified the placement of all rooms, staircases, doors and all the other internal and external living areas. Most of the other books are not so clear.
