5.0 out of 5 stars great 80's soundtrack with extras
The Vacation cancelled passport edition was released in 2003 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie. Discs and sleeves were created via red dot on demand kiosks within Six Flags amusement park limited to 20,000 copies. The CD itself features 36 tracks which I will break down below as tracks from European vacation and Vegas Vacation are also featured...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad soundtrack, but NEVER LEGITIMATELY ISSUED ON CD. This is a bootleg!
This soundtrack has NEVER been legitimately issued on CD. The seller is offering you a bootleg CD, probably created in his basement, for $80. Don't be the proverbial fool who spends his money on this rip-off.

Again: No matter what anyone tells you, this soundtrack has NEVER been issued on CD ANYWHERE in the world. Never. Anywhere. This is a bootleg.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pirate, Bootleg,You Name It, October 19, 2006
This review is from: Vacation (Audio CD)
I read the reviews listed and decided I couldn't wait and now I wish I had. The Disc Itself Has a Sticker Over the CD with some guy jogging on it and the tracks are all so jumbled (if you compare them to what is on the back flap) it makes this sadly the worst buy I have or could ever make. Trust me, DON't wastes $80 - it's not worth 2 cents

No joke...my friends stepfather works with the Lindsey Buckingham crew as a sound technician and my friend actually told me it's being re-released in stores probably by the first quarter in '07. Don't believe me? Fine. Believe me and can't wait that long? Then go ahead and waste $80 with this chump.

This is getting an unfair reputation as a "Bootleg" Do you honestly believe that Warner Bros would let something like this slide if some type of deal hadn't been hammered out by them and Six Flags to authorize and distribute this? mine is special release 14,120/20,000 if in doubt a letter to Warner Bros music and six flags should clear any doubt you have up about this. The original vinyl release of Vacation had 10 tracks

1. Holiday Road (02:11)
Lindsey Buckingham
2. Mister Blue (02:24)
The Fleetwoods
3. Blitzkrieg Bop (02:13)
Ramones
4. Deep River Blues (04:24)
Ralph Burns
5. Summer Hearts (03:07)
Nicolette Larson
6. Little Boy Sweet (03:48)
June Pointer
7. The Trip (Theme From Vacation) (02:37)
Ralph Burns
8. He's So Dull (02:31)
Vanity 6
9. Christie's Song (03:02)
Ralph Burns
10. Dancin' Across The USA (03:09)
Lindsey Buckingham

This release obviously expands greatly with snippets of dialogue from the movie as well as the soundtrack to European vacation [not sure if this was given a release on vinyl} and the 2 tracks from Vegas vacation. I have also read the Christmas Vacation soundtrack was also given the same type of limited release as well. Don't know what this originally retailed for but I paid a "fair" price for it. For the reviewers complaining about the prices they paid well you got the item what were you expecting?? these are now collector pieces if you want it bad enough you'll pay the price no one forced you to purchase at those prices.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can Get Holiday Road and Dancin' Cross the USA on Christmas Vacation Soundtrack, January 14, 2008

I just wanted to point out that Lindsey Buckingham's songs Holiday Road and Dancin' Cross the USA are actually on the tenth anniversary special release (1999) for the third movie in the Griswolds saga National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation Soundtrack. There were only 20 000 copies of that CD made but you can still track them down through any good rare and second hand cd vendor and there's even some on e-bay but I'd look carefully at the product information/seller feed back as unfortunately there's also some burnt copies up there.

Have no idea if the seller on this page is selling a pirated copy but my question is if someone knows for sure why don't they just report it to Amazon or appropriate government department that deals with fraud in your country. I know for a fact this album was released on LP, someone had it when I was a kid (this was before CDs were around). Obviously the version on this page claims to have a few extra songs, Limp Bizkit Holiday Road is on the Christmas Soundtrack bonus as well so it is plausible the same sort of promotion happened with this one when it was released on CD. Christmas was sold at a booth in Six Flags Magic Mountain Theme Park. My advice if you are going to buy this album would be to write to Amazon with your concerns it may be fraudulent and make them prove the product isn't. Retail stores you can walk into have to put their reputation on selling legitimate rare cds and not copies so surely Amazon must do the same thing. If you receive a burnt disc take it to the fraud section of your local police, get a copy of the statement you give to them and forward it to Amazon demanding a full refund including postage or to find you a legitimate copy for the contracted price you agreed to when you paid. I would point out though all the reviews saying this is a fake haven't provided any proof at all that it is, all they've done is typed in capital letters their opinion that it is, so if you want the album I'd investigate it yourself.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the real CD, August 17, 2007
This review is from: Vacation (Audio CD)
The picture you see up top is not the actual CD. There was an official CD release of this, but it has "Cancelled Passport Edition" in the upper left hand corner. Anyone selling a copy that looks like this is selling a fake.

If you are buying this just to get Holiday Road and Dancin' Across the USA, like I almost did, don't. These two songs are available for free (legitimately?) [...]. They are under "Lindsey Buckingham solo"

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad pirate, February 24, 2010

The other version of Holiday Road is not Limp Bizkit, it's a different terrible band just called Limp. Do not spend your money on this, download it from some site somewhere and burn your own copy. It'd be the exact same thing.

The original soundtrack of the movie was released on vinyl in 1983 and deleted before CD was even invented in 1985. Therefore this is not a legitimate CD. Don't waste $80 or so on this because it's very, very poor quality. A bootleg. I know it's tempting because it's a great soundtrack, but trust me -- don't waste your money because it's an illegal bootleg. There was NEVER a SPECIAL LIMITED CD released commercially anywhere in the world. Never. You cannot, repeat CANNOT get the VACATION soundtrack on CD anywhere in the universe apart from this guy who is selling it. You've been warned.
