4.0 out of 5 stars It Works Well on Most Bottles !
When fitted tightly and sealed, this saver works very well indeed. It does not work on all bottle necks, however, such as the longer, more narrow bottle necks. Still, I'm satisfied enough to buy it again because it works so well on most of the champagnes that we buy.

2.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't make it work.
While one of the other reviewers states that it only works on some types of champagne bottles, I couldn't get it to work at all. I tried it on two different shapes of bottles, but to no avail. The problem is that the ring that is supposed to slide down the neck to secure the stopper doesn't slide when it's on the bottle. When off the bottle, the mechanism works fine...

When off the bottle, the mechanism works fine. It appears to me that the stopper must be made for a specific bottle and not for most champagne bottles in general. At least that was my experience. I found a good $3.00 stopper at Sur la Table that works just fine and is not dependent on the shape of the champagne bottle. It doesn't have the fancy pour spout, but at least it keeps the bubbles in the champagne.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits all bottles I've tried, works well, February 7, 2009
This review is from: Champagne Saver & Pourer (Kitchen)
I'm puzzled that some people find the item doesn't fit some bottles of champagne. I've used it on at least 15 different brands of champagne and a few brands of American and Italian bubbly, and it has worked on all of them. You have to pull up the lower ring, push the pourer firmly down on the bottle, and then slide the ring down, which will snap into position. The bubble keeps for several days. I recommend it highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only Pourer that Really Works, August 23, 2009

We open at least a bottle of champagne a week, maybe more often. I've owned all kinds of stoppers, but this is the only one I truly adore. Indeed, there is NO champagne stopper that will fit ALL necks, unfortunately. You have to own many brands, from skinny necked to thick necked. This pourer, however, fits "most" necks, meaning it is somewhat standard. Do exercise patience when fitting the ring down and closing the pourer tight; you want it to completely seal.

We NEVER finish a bottle of champagne in one sitting; and since our bottles often cost $50 or more, the bubbles must be just as fine as the first pour, four days previously. Sometimes I open a bottle just for myself, and enjoy just a few ounces every day. Each pour must be divine as the last.

We have owned this model for at least a decade, and pick up an extra one whenever we are placing an order on a site that sells it. We affectionately dub it the Darth Vader Helmet, and have one in the glove compartment of each car.

There is only one disadvantage to this model; it creates a helmet that is TALLER than any of the others. To keep it in the refrigerator door, you have to rearrange other things so that the bottle leans slightly. It is well worth the inconvenience, however.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, July 21, 2008

For keeping champagne fresh and sparkling and chilled, this stopper is just the ticket. I've had an open bottle laying on its side in the refrigerator for over a month now and it still as fresh as the day I opened it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, December 29, 2007
This review is from: Champagne Saver & Pourer (Kitchen)
As with the first review I read--unfortunately after having bought the product--the device will NOT slide down onto the neck of our bottles.

The concept sounds great but, if my favorite bottles of champagne won't accept the device, it really does me no good.

Looks like I'll have to find another way to keep my champagne fresh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Champagne Saver Ever, October 6, 2011

I found these toppers when I was at the beach one year and I liked it so much I bought more as gifts from Amazon. I put them in my cart and when I went to purchase them the price had gone down so that was an extra bonus. The top fits snuggly and the best part is that you don't have to remove the top to pour. There is a lever that you move down to seal the bottle when you want to save it, and when you want to pour you just pull the lever up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vacu-vin Champagen Saver, August 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Champagne Saver & Pourer (Kitchen)
This is the second Vacu-vin Champagen Saver I have purchased. The first one is still working fine, I bought the second one for a friend. The Saver is one of those rare products these days that does what it is advertised to do, keep the bubbles in the Champagne. Somehow we managed to drink only half of a bottle of our favorite bubbly one night and the Saver kept it bubbly for a week until we had the opportunity to finish it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps the bubbles!, September 13, 2010

This is my second saver, and this one works better than the first one I owned. It really keeps the bubbles if you cannont finish a bottle in a couple of days. Longer than that - I have not found anything that will keep the sparkling wine fresh. The price is right and it works as well as anything I have found on the market.

We had lots of champagne during the holidays and this gadget lives up to its advertising. Easy to use, works really well. Saves the bubbly for later, a few days without going flat. Excellent value.
