5.0 out of 5 stars foil cutter that hasn't broken
This was my third foil cutter in one month. The other two were flimsy but cost about the same. They each broke in about two weeks. I have had this one for five months and it isn't broken yet.

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars it works
These things never seem to completely cut thru the foil - or I just don't have that perfect technique. I usually break these thing by using it to pry off the foil after cutting. The cutters break off. But, if I don't do that, it should last a while - just need good finger nails to finish the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Foil Wine Cutter, January 13, 2008

Easy to use for someone with arteritis and easily cuts the foil. We haven't used it long term so can't speak to longevity.

Best foil cutter I've ever used. Does not require a lot of pressure. The number and placement of cutting wheels within the cutter means just a 1/3 turn cuts the whole foil. And if you release only slightly, you can use the cutter to remove the foil. You'll quickly be cutting and removing the foil with a single motion.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works, it's functional, and it looks good., February 11, 2010
This review is from: Arch Foil Cutter (Kitchen)
I have used this for a couple of months and it works. The design has some draw backs that make it feel flimsy. I haven't found a way to cut the foil with one rotation; it takes at least two and often three. It is awkward to store since it's tall and will only stand upright. It's not bad but it's not the best foil cutter I've owned. Functional is the word I would use to describe it.

I was tired of using a knife to take the foil off wine bottles and decided to take the safer route and get a foil cutter. I didn't need anything fancy, just something that worked and so far I have not been disappointed. My only problem forgetting where I put it.

Throughout my life I've gone through several foil cutters. They tend to fall apart or become so dull that they won't cut foil anymore. I haven't owned the Arch for long enough to make it dull, but it feels higher quality than the others I've owned and I really like how it stands upright. On my wine cabinet it looks unique, and one person even asked "What's that?" I always enjoy when somebody is intrigued by something so simple, it means the design is good.

I no longer allow foil to stand between me and less-cheap wine.

I used to buy 2-buck-chuck (well now it's 2-fifty-buck-chuck) because it has that handy little pull-tab around the foil. Thanks to my Arch Foil Cutter, I have graduated to fine wines in the $5-$7 range, allowing me to choose the perfect vino to complement my Lean Cuisine.
