A nice sturdy container. I'm pleased to see that amazon removed the accompanying image of the pump, which I assumed was included. I bought this for a purpose it wasn't intended, to draw out the bubbles in my cheesecake batter by vacuum... Unfortunately, the cheesecake batter wasn't cohesive enough to expel the bubbles, and even half full the batter would expand to fill the container under full vacuum. While my cheesecake adventures aren't really relevant, it does serve to tell you that with a little effort, you can draw several inches of vacuum in this container with the little vacu vin pump. In a pinch, it's also appropriately shaped that you can chill a bottle of wine in it.

Do bear in mind that you MUST have the pump to use this container.

These containers are the best way to store anything that you want to preserve fresh. Completely removes all air to eliminate oxidation. Offers some UV protection as well.

I'm the type of person that typically doesn't know what I'm going to have for dinner until a few hours before dinner. Obviously this type of planning usually doesn't allow time to properly marinade food - until now. This vacu-vin makes it possible to marinade items in about an hour. I would still prefer to marinade certain items over night but in a pinch this vacu-vin makes good marinading in an hour possible. Plus it's a nice storage container.

There's only one thing that hasn't already been said about this container, which is the reason for my review: this things takes a significant amount of pumps before it's completely sealed. I have 20+ Vacu Vin wine savers at home that I use daily for both wine as well as liquor and my fine scotches, and each one takes about 10 pumps to seal an almost empty bottle.

Since this is a much larger vessel, it takes significantly longer to seal than a wine bottle. I want to stress that this is common sense and not a design flaw, but not something I realized until after I received mine.

I still love it and use it as backup storage for food items I don't use daily, but stick to smaller mason jars and a FoodSaver for the more daily items.

I use this for everything from cereal to crackers. Keeps the air out for weeks and I have kept crackers fresh for months with no problem. Easy to use and clean.

We juice vegetables and fruit and use these containers to prevent oxidization. The container is thick yet light weight and seals quite well. Not sure about how effective the seal will be over time, but out of the gate I give it highest marks.
