Product Description

Wine should breathe a little, but not overnight. Putting an end to the oxidation process, which turns a favorite Merlot into vinegar, is easy with the Vacu Vin Wine Saver. These long-lasting extra stoppers are designed to work with the vacuum-style pump (sold separately) to keep a wine fresh. Made of high-quality rubber, they won't affect the taste of the wine. And the method is simple--just place a stopper in the opening of a bottle, place the pump over the stopper, and pump air out until you feel some resistance. This process is suitable for preserving all but sparkling wines, and will save Chiantis, Syrahs, and others for up to two weeks. --Madeleine Miller

Product Description

4 extra stoppers for any of the Vacu Vin or Concerto wine saver systems. Fits any size or type wine bottle

When shopping for these replacement corks, I was trying to find a review to confirm that the new style corks work with the old style pump. I took the chance that they would, and happily found that the new design corks work with old design pump.

Please, Vacu Vin, won't you bring back the old design?! Those slightly softer ones with the slit on the top and three ridges on the bottom? The ones that don't, on occasion, slip up in the bottle, leaving wine oxidized -- the ones that don't fall out in transit, spoiling a cooler's content with spilt wine? I have a couple of the old ones left and am guarding them with great care, so as not to lose one of these precious, quality stoppers. Won't you please make these again? You could even call them "deluxe" and sell them for 50% more. One bottle of spilt or stale wine would make it worth a return to quality -- and I have had three such disappointment with this design.

I received the stoppers and noted a couple of things. First, I had a couple of these already, which look like the product pictured - grey with 4 vent holes. These new ones don't look as pictured - are black instead of grey, and only have 3 vent holes vs. 4, which increases the time it takes to pump air from a wine bottle. Finally, the center vacuum relief nub has some rubber stems from the molding process still attached - the ones I already had lacked these and were well-finished.

In summary, they're usable, but they don't quite feel right, as though they're a knockoff vs. a genuine Vacu Vin product. Then too, it could also simply be that Vacu Vin has changed the design and is going cheaper in it's production standards.

-----------

Update - a few weeks later, two have stopped holding a vacuum. Very frustratins. I ran over to Bed Bath & Beyond and - low and behold - they have the real Vacu Vin stoppers that look like the ones pictured in this seller's ad. With that, I have to say this seller is misrepresenting what they're selling, and these are not the genuine article. I'd advise anyone to stay away from this one.

As sold by CS Imports, these are not vacu vin wine savers, not even close. It looks like this seller found a very cheap manufacturer to produce something resembling vacu vin wine savers in cheap black rubber that doesn't fit bottle openings and is probably the reason the seals don't work because you have to jam them into any bottle opening misshaping the rubber.
They arrived in tied plastic bags with no labeling. This seller probably bought 1000s of these knockoffs and sells them as vacu vins. Don't waste your money. The cost is just cheap enough that you won't want to bother sending them back, so let this be a warning.

Thought this might be a solution to keep white wines longer drinkable. The stoppers did not fit very well, it was impossible to creat any kind of vacuum in the bottle. In my view a waste of money.

These are great! However you NEED the VacuVin PUMP to make them use. Don't try to use them without the pump as they will not stay in secure, and will not keep your wine fresh. You're better off using a piece of plastic over the bottle if then to just try ordering these corks without first having the pump.

With the pump these work great and are necessary as extras. Just make sure you take them apart and wash them in hot soapy water before using.

Also, both times I ordered these extras they came in a plastic zip lock bag with an amazon label. So I think Amazon must get a batch of them in and seperate them by hand.

This vacuum pump system works well enough to keep a bottle of wine good for up to a week or more. Having more than one stopper on hand is useful when you don't want to drink the same wine every night or when you live with someone whose preference differs from yours.

Having a set of extra stoppers is especially useful in the aftermath of a house party, when you may have several half-empty bottles of wine left over.

These stoppers last very well. They don't dry or crack, even when washed frequently in the dishwasher. It is convenient to have a stopper available even when the others are waiting for the dishwasher to be run.

Tried these extra stoppers in several different bottles. They will NOT work. Some won't completely allow air evacuation; others will not hold a vacuum for any length of time.... Received black stoppers although the original ones and the Amazon picture of the stoppers were gray. The black ones are not as soft & pliable as the originals. Seems I didn't receive what I ordered but some inferior knock-off.

Buyers BEWARE!!!
