This review is from: Vadim (Paperback)
A mixture of a thriller and murder mystery, taking place in America and Russia in the year 2020. The narrator is a Russian ex-cop. Circumstances make him an employee of a third-party candidate in that year's presidential campaign. The author is obviously an expert on Russia, and the novel presents a sympathetic, nuanced, though bleak picture of Russia. That said, I'm not really sure how deep into the Russian soul he has been able to dig for the narrator's characterisation.
In any case, an enjoyable, entertaining read, if not a deathless classic. |
