3.0 out of 5 stars Valby Half Rocks, Half Socks, April 30, 2008
By
This review is from: Valby Rocks (Audio CD)
01. "A/K/A "
Sounding like a 50's style parody of "My Generation" by The Who. John Valby sings about the male reproduction organ, then the females, then together, then what happens when you've combined them.
***

02. "White Trash Wedding"
12 bar blues number thats kind of a cheap song, a 12 bar blues song with backing vocals can always sound cool, but when ya listen to it, the lyrics aren't that funny. However, it would probably appeal more to red neck audiences.
**

03. "Sunday Football"
A song about how he will be as nice as can be to the wife, do what ever she wants him to for 6 days of the week, but on Sunday leave him the hell alone.
**

04. "Shut the F**k Up"
I think he could have improved this with more time, but it's one of the better songs on this album
***

05. "Life of a Sperm"[live]
Quick little live performance of this song that has been recorded before.
***

06. "Wabash Cannonball"[live]
continues in live from the last track, not one of my favorites. It's more of a song you'd need to be drunk to find hilarious.
*

07. Stand Up and Cheer[live]
continues in from the last live track, this has been released before.
**

08. "Mother Hubbard"
Johns taken a bit of a rip off of "Old Mother Hubbard" by Andrew Dice Clay and turned it into a blues number. With his own little John Valby twist to it.
***

09. "Boneration"
At first listen, i thought, "WTF is this %^$#?" but it is pretty catchy. Reminds me of the song the nerds sing in Revenge Of The Nerds, an 80's robot dancing kind of number, "It's a mans occupation is to stick his boneration in a girls separation to increase the population, would you like demonstration?"
***1/2

10. "Not Rock"
I wanted to applaud when he opens with the lyrics "Britney Spears is not rock and roll" and then after the first verse, it seemed to go no where.
It could have been a lot better then it is.
**1/2

11. "Eat Bite"
He has recorded this number he has played live 1000 times with the whole band. It actually sounds pretty good.
****

12. One More Beer
I was kind of sick of the 12 bar blues numbers by this track, but this one ended up sounding ok, I can see this being played in bars a lot.
***1/2

13. Can Say?Can't Say
This is the exact same track that was released on "Dr, Dirtys Spincter unplugged" so its a 5 star listening, but only 1 star for being on this album, as it's been released before.
