4.0 out of 5 stars one of the best strollers in ANY price range, July 2, 2010

This review is from: Valco Baby Ion Single Stroller - Almond (Baby Product)
I recently set out to find the "perfect" LIGHTWEIGHT, full service stroller for my 20 month old. After comparing ALL high-end strollers including bugaboo, mutsy, uppababy vista, bumberride and zooper(you name it, i checked it out), the valco baby ion and the peg perego si come out on the top(and they are not even the most pricy). I love the egg-shape design, which gives more room side-ways for the toddler. I love the huge, smooth-operating canopy, which zips out an extra section. The included raincover zips onto the canopy. Because the canopy is already HUGE and AWESOME, the zip-on raincover is small enough that you can store it in the pouch on the back of the canopy and you'll always have your raincover!

Other pors:
Smooth, one-hand handling
compact, adjustable handlebar
baby bumper is in the right position and baby loves it
full reline( 2-handed, though)
large wheels
Storage basket is accessible when seat is fully reclined
can wheele it like a luggage at the airport

I am giving this stroller 4 stars until valco baby makes the following improvements:
1)This stroller needs auto-lock mechanism after folding. Having to kneel down on the floor to attach the strap and un-attach the strap makes it hard for air port travel.
2)The baby head bumper touches my below-average sized 20 month old already. This sturdy, plush head bumper is great for newborns so they don't fall out from the back of the stroller. Please keep this feature. Valco baby needs to install a couple bottoms or bands to lift/hold the head bumper out of the way for the taller toddlers.
3)This stroller requires 2 hands to recline the seat. Making this a one hand recline like the peg perego p3 will perfect this stroller.
4)needs a child tray and child cup holder as an accessory
5)needs adjustable foot rest so toddlers can sleep in flat position.
6)the canopy is huge and awesome and water repellent. However, if valco baby adds an additional water proof liner under the canopy (like the peg perego si), the child will be safer if rain is heavy.

This is one of the two best strollers on the market now that are under 20 LBS. I have not found a "perfect stroller" but if valco baby makes some improvements, this stroller will be it!! I decided to keep both the valco baby ion and the peg perego si because they are two quite different strollers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love my ion, November 14, 2010
This review is from: Valco Baby Ion Single Stroller - Almond (Baby Product)
I have had this stroller for about almost a year and I have o say that I love everything about it. It looks funky, wheels amazingly smoothly and is so comfortable for my baby. I also love the huge canopy that unzips and really protects my baby from the sun.It is lightweight but still full service, no skimpy stroller here. It folds very easily and compactly and is easy to put in and out of the car.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Purchase, May 10, 2012
I never review and item until I have owned and used it for several months. I have to say, I am very pleased with this stroller. I purchased this for my fourth baby--he was a surprise and I had given away all my (top-of-the-line) baby items. I think this might be the best stroller ever. Being my fourth child, I knew what I wanted and what I didn't want. I also wasn't willing to take out a loan to purchase a stroller for what would be used only for one baby and donated.

I am stopped often and asked about this stroller. Most people take one look and not only love the look, but can tell it is a top notch product.

Pros:
Lightweight but as functional as a full-size stroller
Folds flat. Leaves plenty of room in my tiny cargo area of my SUV.
Pushes like a dream, as well as my BOB jogger (Although I wouldn't take it on a heavy-duty run)
FANTASTIC canopy
adjustable handlebar for my other children to push and for my tall husband to push as easily as my average height self
Basket holds more than you'd think
Doesn't tip over with bags on the back
Surprisingly can hold a large child (My tall 6 year old autistic son sat in it a couple of times at Walt Disney World so he could get some "space"--he is thin and under the weight limit).
Nice 5-point harness system (some strollers are a little lacking in how theirs works)
Fits into small areas
Reclines low for sleeping

Cons:
The basket's Velcro comes undone easily (the sole reason I did not give 5 stars--would have given 4 1/2 if it were possible)
The bar in the basket cuts it's holding power
No parent drink holder (must buy after market)
Lack of color choices (but not a deal breaker by any means)
Belly bar is not removable, although even a large child can crawl around it easily

4.0 out of 5 stars At Last!, March 18, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is my 3rd stroller and I finally got it right! Rides like a dream and is super roomy which is great for larger babies. The canopy is HUGE and fully shields my 8 month old. The 5 point harness is weird at first but once you get the hang of it you'll wonder why it seemed so tricky initially. It doesn't fold completely flat but its easy to maneuver or store when folded and collapses in a flash. Very pleased that a rain cover was included. Only complaint is that there is no parent cup holder.

4.0 out of 5 stars why differences between countries with same model and year?, January 19, 2012

This review is from: Valco Baby Ion Single Stroller - Almond (Baby Product)
I have been using this stroller with my 7.5 month old from when he was first born. First of all, I LOVE IT! It is absolutely great. I bought the bar to attach the graco snugride car seat and that has been great as well. It is very light, easy to travel with, and folds up super tiny (I have taken the wheels off many times to make it even smaller).

I was living overseas (Australia) when I purchased this stroller. I chose to purchase the US version as I wanted to ensure that the bar to attach my car seat would fit. I wish I had purchased the Australian version. The Aussie version includes an adjustable footrest and a zip-in sunshade. Why are these not included on the US model? It seems like it would be easier to make the same stroller for everyone than to make two versions of the same model.

I have since traveled back to the US and still get compliments on this stroller. It is narrow, light, sturdy, and easy to transport. Also, my husband who is in a wheelchair has no trouble pushing it as it is very easy to maneuver. I would definitely purchase again, but I would probably have opted for the Australian version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and lightweight stroller, October 28, 2011
I have now owned the Valco Ion stroller for over a year and I would buy it again. Compared to other strollers I've used, this stroller is very well-built (rubber tires/sturdy aluminum frame) and aside from the umbrella strollers, it is the most lightweight stroller I could find. The egg-shape allows for a spacious inside space for your baby with one of the largest shades out there. The shade has a breathable mesh window to peer down at your baby and it also zippers into a larger shade for those sunny/windy days. Other parents are amazed at how large the shade becomes when unzipped. If you live in sunny/windy climates, this does a great job of shielding your baby.

The basket is spacious and allows for a diaper bag, sippy cups, snack traps, etc. The handlebars (when pushing side buttons) move up and down easily for comfort based on your height. The seat reclines fully to a lay down position when pulling the clasp on two strings behind the seat. Finally, the last pro that sold me on this item is how easy it is to fold down. A twist of a dial near the handlebars and you can easily push (one-handed) the handle bar forward into its storage position. The brake lock is a bar, which is easily enabled. This stroller is spacious for your baby, but with the egg-shell design is narrow to be pushed in the smallest of aisles. It is also easily maneuverable with its three wheels.

As for cons, I am grasping but it would be nice if it came with a tray or cup holder, but those are all accessories. It's worth considering if you haven't tried it yet!

We purchased this stroller after testing/doing research on several. We have come to the conclusion this is by far top notch. Easy to open/fold and light. Also the turning radius is outstanding. We have received several compliments on this stroller.
