5.0 out of 5 stars Not for your coffee table, silly.
The scope of Valkenier's analysis is invaluable as is her description of the change in Russia during the Silver Age. There are few books in English with this degree of interpretation on Serov's work. Though, yes, there are few color reproductions, the book is not intended as a catalogue raisonné!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed.
The profoundly poor reproductions in this book, most especially the few color ones, are awful - the colors are incorrect, sallow, grainy and make the Russians all look as if they are ill and dying! The publisher should be ashamed of this pitiful production. What an insult to one of Russian's great painters!
