5.0 out of 5 stars Have a Ball !!
There's nothing magical about this piece of equipment- its a big, sturdy rubber ball, and what you see in the picture is exactly what you get. So why would you even want to bother messing with it?

1.0 out of 5 stars This ball burst on first use.
My wife and I found out that these exercise balls are a blessing with our children. Anytime they're fussy or sleepy we just cradle them and bounce them to sleep. We are both taller than 6' so we bought the 75cm ball. Well it popped under my 160lbs wife and our 8 month old daughter. ON IT'S VERY FIRST USE! Stay away from this brand!

There's nothing magical about this piece of equipment- its a big, sturdy rubber ball, and what you see in the picture is exactly what you get. So why would you even want to bother messing with it?

Well, despite its simplicity, its a really FUN piece of exercise equipment and an absolutely GREAT way to change things up. For instance, if you're tired of doing sit-ups on the floor, well, try them on the ball (you'll see what I mean when you do). If you're tired of doing push-ups on the floor, just try them with your feet on the ball- then see how many push-ups you can do!

But be careful and use your judgement. While there's a lot of stuff you can do with this big ball, you COULD also get hurt if you're clowning around or trying something you're simply not in shape to do yet. Know that this ball comes with an exercise sheet that give you suggestions for doing different exercises.

All-in-all, though, its especially nice for a change of pace or for an added challenge. Additionally, many therapists use this ball for rehabilitation purposes, particularly back rehab, so there's really a lot you can do with it. If nothing else, pull it out after a long day at the office and stretch your back out over it- wow- does that ever feel good! Those who suffer with back pain might also be interested in Treat Your Own Spinal Stenosis. Have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great exercise ball!, February 22, 2008

We purchased this ball to assist with ab workouts; I did my research and read tons of reviews on many other exercise balls and this was a great purchase. I probably should have gotten a smaller one since I'm 5'3", but the size does not seem to be a problem because my workouts are just as effective! My boyfriend is 5'9" and it works perfectly for him. Although the inflating did take some time, we had no problems with the pump and the ball has maintained it's shape and is very sturdy. I'm very satisfied and recommend this ball!

I love the body ball. I bought it for a specific purpose but if you aren't sure how to incorporate the body ball into your workout, it comes with a few exercises you can try. It was also reletively cheap.

This was big enough to use as a chair, but I went back to the standard office chair after the novelty wore off. I use this mostly to just bend backwards and chill out. The pump that came with it was easy to use, but I think I read others had problems. Not sure why. It's a good size (I'm 5' 8") and I wouldn't want a smaller one. How much can you say about a ball? It deflates for storage. Can be rolled out of way for those that don't want to lift it. If you drop it, it won't break. Oh well, don't take my word for it. Read yet another review about a ball to be sure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be wary of wrong size and bad piump, March 17, 2010

Despite the box saying this was a 75cm ball, the ball and measuring tape inside some of these were marked as 65cm. Be sure to check before inflating.

The included foot pump is poorly made. Unfortunately, this model seems common to other ball vendors, so it's difficult to get away from without a separate purchase of a dedicated pump. I use an electric pump designed for air mattresses and pool toys - you can find these for under $25. Then, you can use the included foot pump for the last 200 pumps. (It normally takes 600-700 pumps to fill the ball.)

When inflating, stick the valve adapter directly into the ball, and don't let the hose pull it sideways. The adapter is very thin plastic and tears easily. Pump directly downward on the pump. the pump itself is also thin plastic, and it gets very hot if pumping quickly. Heat makes the plastic softer still.

The ball itself is fairly good quality. It only needs an inflation boost once a month or so, even with very heavy use. The valve stopper is very difficult to remove, even with the included tool. A little bit of petro-friendly lubricant (any water-based lubricant will do) can make a big difference, and may even improve the seal.

As an aside, if you're using this as a chair, or for another use where you don't want the ball rolling off on its own, consider adding some sand or water to the ball before you finish inflating.

2.0 out of 5 stars Low Quality and Pump is a Joke., February 9, 2010

This ball took me 5 minutes to inflate using an ELECTRIC pump. You could never inflate it with the pump provided. In addition, the ball is "sticky" compared to other balls I have used in the gym I frequent. I bought this because the price was low. If I were you, I would pay more for a better ball.

1.0 out of 5 stars kissing concrete, September 27, 2007

This review is from: Valeo Body Ball (Sports)
The 75cm Valeo Body Ball ("burst resistant" per the box) performed faithfully for seven months until it ruptured yesterday. I am 6'4", 200# and was prone using two 10# dumbbells when it burst beneath me and dropped me face first on the smooth concrete floor. The tear was nearly fully circumferential around the middle of the ball. Fortunately, I only had a couple of small abrasions. The ball had no previous damage, leak or or other warning sign of weakness or impending failure. It was replaced with a more expensive, stronger ball that is now used with a thick foam exercise mat underneath.

5.0 out of 5 stars Using as an Office Chair, December 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Valeo Body Ball (Sports)
I bought and I am using as a replacement for my office chair in order to improve my posture. It has worked well thus far, although, as a warning, I've been using for a couple weeks, and I am still not able to use for the whole day. It takes time to build up strength in your back.

On sizing, I'm 5'11 and this ball works great (the 65cm sat too low and hips were below knees). When you initially inflate, it won't be the full size. You need to sit on it and let the creases from it being packaged unfold, and then fill up with more air. It takes doing this a few times over the first week to get it to fully expand to its max size.

Functionally speaking, the ball works like it's supposed to, as does the foot pump it comes with. But it came out of the package covered in a film of greasy residue, and even after wiping it down with lysol wipes and letting it air out overnight, it still REEKS. It smells like a mixture of car tires and plastic cups melting in the fire. The fumes are making me sick. I hope the smell goes away... but I have bought other yoga balls and did not have this problem.
