5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD PRODUCT FOR GRIP STRENGTH FOR THE PRICE
I HAVE USED VALEO HAND GRIPS IN THE PAST AND FOUND THEM TO BE GOOD QUALITY AT AN INEXPENSIVE PRICE. YES, THEY WEAR OUT IF USED FIVE OR SIX TIMES A WEEK OVER A YEAR OR SO, BUT THEY DELIVER. MY SON, WHO IS A BLACK BELT IN HAPKIDO, AND I BOTH USE THESE AND FIND THAT THEY ARE GOOD FOR BOTH OF US IN DEVELOPING AND IMPROVING GRIP STRENGTH. THEY ARE AT ABOUT A MEDIUM LEVEL. NOT...

I began my search for some good grip strengthening equipment a few months ago...It was a pathetic sight, watching me fight & fuss with various jars & bottles, who's lids would just NOT come off for me!

First, I purchased the blue & red Gripmaster Hand Grips from Amazon...they were amazing, but you progress through them so quickly, that they become unchallenging after a couple weeks. So, Instead of spending another $12 on the black Gripmaster, I purchased these Valeo Grips.

I'm not thrilled. To strengthen your hands and forearms, it is recommended that you go for more repetitions, rather than high resistance. It is impossible for me to do more than 3 sets of 15-20 squeezes with these because the resistance is so tough. The handles themselves are not conducive to more reps. Once your hands become damp, they slide a bit, making it harder to squeeze and keep correct form.

For someone more advanced, I'm sure these will be fine for you, but for those just starting on a strengthening routine, I'd avoid these for now.

These things are awkward to handle and simply don't work well. Shell out the extra five bucks for some foam grips.

NOT TOO EASY AND NOT TOO HARD. JUST ABOUT RIGHT FOR A PERSON WITH AN AVERAGE OR A LITTLE ABOVE GRIP STRENGTH TO STAY IN FORM OR DEVELOP FURTHER, DEPENDING UPON HOW MANY REPITITIONS YOU WANT TO DO.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but slippery, September 6, 2011

I bought these with the intention of building up my hand strength. I work out 3-5 times a week, and consider of decent hand strength to begin with. I think these are pretty good in terms of providing a workout for your hands. Size is nice as well, as I often find them too small for my hands in stores. I do have a couple of points that keep them from being higher than 3 star:
1) The material is not the least non-slip. Get sweaty hands and they're like trying to squeeze a fish, and slide all over your hands.
2) The edges of the molded "finger" sides are rather uncomfortable. It's not very rounded, so they tend to make the skin on your fingers sore well before your hands feel well worked out.
If you wrap them in a small hand towel, both issues are reduced, but looks ridiculous.
Overall, for 6.50, they're not bad...just not that great.

I received these a week ago and have used them a couple of times. They are much cheaper than others offered on here (in price and quality). Other reviewers have complained about the slipping that happens when your hands become sweaty. I have found that to be true, but always tell myself, "Hey, they were 5 bucks, get over it!" It doesn't hurt to take the small break of readjusting any displacement during the use. No pain, no gain, right? If you are on a budget and want to start small to achieve high goals, sure, get these. I like these for what they are. Not love, like.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners, resistance becomes easy after a few weeks, November 11, 2010

This review is from: Valeo HGR Hand Grips (Sports)
For the price, you can't beat these grips. Of course they aren't that comfortable without any padding, but the point is to build strength and resistance to pain. The grips with the cushion handles make little sense to me, almost like recliner in the weight room.

I used these daily for a couple weeks, and the resistance is much less difficult. It would be nice to be able to adjust the resistance level, but again, for the price....

I definitely got $6 worth of use out of these. My wife now has them, as the resistance is perfect for her. If you need some hand grips cheap, these are great.

Good, cheap, had it for about two weeks. Works great as it should, but hurts to hold after a few reps. Especially the thumb area on the palm.

With that said, if you want comfort, you spend $15, if you want to spend $6, get these.

3.0 out of 5 stars They don't fit my hand, June 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Valeo HGR Hand Grips (Sports)
I don't know if i have mishapen hands or if these grips aren't ergonomically correct. They don't stay in my hand comfortably and the hard plastic handles are't ideal. I would prefer cushioned grips. Good value but if you can find cushioned grips, you'd probably be happier

2.0 out of 5 stars VERY uncomfortable grip, April 4, 2010

The hard plastic with the finger scallops just does not feel natural in my hands. Go for foam or rubber grips without finger grooves and you'll be much happier. I don't mind working out but these are just a pain in the ass.
