5.0 out of 5 stars Best windshield wipers I've ever had!
The installation literally took 60 seconds. I had no idea what size to buy, but the Amazon product selector showed me exactly what I needed. Though I have not yet used them in snow, I can say they perform wonderfully in rain, light or heavy. I installed them right before a trip and went through rain and heavy mist. It did such a good job, my windshield looked invisible...

This review is from: Valeo U-22 Gen2 Premium All-Season Bracketless Wiper Blade - 22", Pack of 1 (Automotive)
This is my first review on Amazon.com. I felt compelled to write a review to warn people of my experiences twice with these blades on separate days.

When I bought the blades it was a buy one get one free sale on Amazon. Since my old blades weren't working out I decides to buy them based on most of the positive reviews I've read here. There was one review by Richard Hamilton (still available here) that mentioned the blades flew off during light rain. Since he was the only one to mention this I thought it must have been put on wrong.

A little over a month after I put it on, I was driving on the highway through a heavy rainstorm with strong winds when the wipers on the passenger side flew off. Since I was on the highway I couldn't stop so i continued on till a available pit stop was available. By then my empty wiper handles scratched a groove on part of my windshield. Since the weather was so unusual I attributed that to the extreme weather condition that day.

Today, a few months after the first incident, the one on the driver side also broke off in the rain. This time though, there was no heavy wind and it was light rain. Again I was on the highway but this time I was made half blind because without the wipers on the driver's side, I could barely see what was ahead. Luckily my friend's car was just in front, and between the both of us driving slowly, me following his tail light, and a bit of luck, we got off the highway stopped at the nearest gas stop where I was able to replace the lost wiper with a new one. BUT THIS COULD EASILY HAVE ENDED UP WITH AN ACCIDENT.

I believe the reason that the wipers comes off that easily is because there is no top locking mechanism to hold the wipers in place properly. I would advise anyone to look at the locking part if they bought this item, or decides to buy this item to see if they feel comfortable with the possibility that it might fly off for no apparent reason. I feel concerned enough about this product to warn people about my horrifying experiences with this purchase..

Stay safe everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Streakless in Seattle, December 14, 2009
This review is from: Valeo U-22 Gen2 Premium All-Season Bracketless Wiper Blade - 22", Pack of 1 (Automotive)
These installed very easily. They seem very secure. They wipe without any streaks which I think is the result of the "1500 pressure points" they proudly advertise. I'll wait to see how they hold up with ice on the windshield and overall durability. I have a feeling consumer reports had it right though that really the most important thing is to change them (or any wiper brand) every 6 months for the best results. The sizing recommendation for my acura tl was correct.

This item will not fit Mercedes benz 2004 CLK500 coupe. Amazon needs to check if it will fit before advertising in the website. The clip did not design for 2004 CLK500. This product needs to be removed from the web site.

I've gone through three sets of these blades on my trailblazer and silverado. I've been very happy with them and they perform superb. Replacement time is about 1yr....longer for rear window wipers.

The design seems to work better than conventional wipers for keeping the blade flush against the window. My only complaint would be that due to the design, the wiper does not properly contact the windshield on the far lower right. This is due to the curavture of the window and the wiper is unable to keep enough downforce in its bend to stay in contact.

Overall i'm very pleased.

also...I did once have a blade snap off of at the connector. An email to Valeo support netted me two brand new blades. Excelent customer service!

4.0 out of 5 stars OK for an inexpensive blade., January 10, 2011

My pair of blades lasted about half a year. my car is garaged. I think this is acceptable for a pair of inexpensive blades. they do leave streaks on my windshield when they are new, though my windshield IS kinda picky (I've also used Bosch and PIAA, they leave streaks, too).

3.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not as good as the Bosch ICON, July 31, 2010

I mean, it wipes your windshield decently, but it does not glide as smooth nor does it adhere to the windshield in the same fashion. Tends to miss a couple very small areas when swiping.

I installed this brand of blades on both a Suburban and a 4Runner. Amazon's sizing recommendations were accurate. Installation was extremely simple. I've had them on for 2 months, which equates to a fair number of rain storms in SC. No streaks, no noise!

I have noticed one minor issue. When the driver's wiper reaches the far left and then changes direction, it tends to grab a bit of water and pull it back towards the center. Generally this only happens for about 1/2", so it's not a big deal. In a torrential downpour, it did a great job of keeping the main area clear but the "pull-back" was more than 1". Not enough to bother my driving, but enough that I noticed.

Overall, I'm happy with them, and they were a good price. I would buy them again, because the issue I noted above is too minor to be worth paying more for another brand. I'll update in a few months to say whether things change.

****Dec 12 2010 update: The "pull-back" problem is a bit bigger than it started, but otherwise they continue to work well.
