5.0 out of 5 stars Great belt for the price!
I had a large leather weight-lifting belt that I hated because of its shape. It would either cut into my rib cage or drive into my hip areas causing discomfort while squatting or deadlifting. I thought about buying a nice, thick, expensive Inzer, etc. but I'm losing weight and didn't want to have to buy several different pricey belts over the course of my weight loss...

3.0 out of 5 stars size matters
I don't dought that the belt is a quality belt, however my only suggestion
Would be to include the approximate waist sizes for each belt instead of just
Having L, XL sizes available.

I had a large leather weight-lifting belt that I hated because of its shape. It would either cut into my rib cage or drive into my hip areas causing discomfort while squatting or deadlifting. I thought about buying a nice, thick, expensive Inzer, etc. but I'm losing weight and didn't want to have to buy several different pricey belts over the course of my weight loss. Plus, I wanted to try a foam core belt.

Well, I did some research and an amateur strongman that I know and respect recommended the Valeo series belts as a cheaper priced belt that wasn't leather but was still good. I've been using this belt for about four months and I really like it. It is easy to adjust and it has a lengthy velcro section to fit a wide variety of waistlines for its listed size. It's also very comfortable to wear. The only thing that might be a problem is the metal portion may be the weakest link but I'll take it over plastic any day.

Many people will tell you that you need an expensive leather belt for lifting and I agree that folks lifting some serious tonnage really should get a high end leather belt. As for me, I don't see myself competing in powerlifting meets, squat and deadlift super impressive numbers, etc. The Valeo belt serves it's purpose by helping me keep my core tight during my heavier sets and it doesn't come loose. When I finish my weight loss maybe I'll consider getting an expensive belt but I'll probably stick with the Valeo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great backsaver, July 27, 2009
I use this belt when lifting heavy things around the house. I'm a 54 year old woman and I find this a backsaver when lifting things like the air conditioner that needs to be put in the window. It's also great if you need to stack wood. It's light and I'd recommend it to anyone that does heavy (or not so heavy) lifting around the house.

In my line of work, a sore back is often a condition which results from my many years of work. Wearing this belt is both a comfort and an injury preventative action. It is also cheaper than chiropractic copays.

5.0 out of 5 stars great and flexible support, July 4, 2009
I have used a heavy duty and a elastic type work belt for my back problems. This one is just right. I can use it for the gym and use it around the house for my back problem. It is also flexible enough that I can wear it to work under my shirt.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible service, January 17, 2008
I ordered a weight belt online in a size large. X-large was shipped to me. I have gone back and forth with them through e-mail explaining I would like a label to return it, but they claim a size choice is not listed. How could it not be when there is a drop down menu to choose from? And how do they know what to ship you then? This is what I explained to them and have since not received a reply. The cust. serv. phone number is a waste of time, because it goes to a voice mail and no one ever calls you back. So I now have to pay to return an item I never ordered. I do not recommend this company.

4.0 out of 5 stars weight belt, April 28, 2010

The belt is very comfortable and easy to fasten. I use to workout without a belt and injured my lower back. Now that I have the belt I feel total support on my lower back when working out with heavy loads. What is also a plus is that you can actually leave the belt on while doing cardio. it acts just like a heat belt to shed those excess baggage around your waist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Belt! Great value!, August 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This belt does exactly what a belt should do at a fraction of the cost of others. Most people wear a weight belt for back support when they lift. That is NOT the purpose of a belt. A weight belt gives the abdominal muscles something to push against increasing the amount of weight that can be safely lifted. Buy this one and get ahead of the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great belt for the value, July 9, 2011

This review is from: Valeo VLM 5-Inch Performance Foam Core Belt (Sports)
I, like most kids in their late teens, had the mindset that i was invincible and nothing would ever go wrong for me. I would deadlift/squat more weight then i should have, likely with wrong form. One day my back flared uo with immense pain, and later it traveled down my left leg. I now have a herniated L5S1 ruptured disc pressing against a spinal nerve root.

It has been a few months and i have gone back to lifting light weight to get backl in the groove. I still have horrible pain and my disc is still recovering so, for once i was smart and invested in a weight belt. This belt is very lightweight and not bulky like the other strongman belts out there made of leather. It fits snuggly with velcro allowing for adjustment of any increment, versuses ones with belt holes which allow only set variance in size. It is also small enough that i can wear it under a large shirt and it is not visible to anyone.

The belt holds my core tight whenever im lifting something and keep my back straight and supported so i do not reherniate the disc. It is a lightsaver and ive been wearing it whenever i lift anything up, even for curls, and bench.

The belt runs big in my opinion so if your on the edge of its coverage go for the lower size. Very good buy, just dont expect support for very heavy lifts.
