5.0 out of 5 stars Linda's absolute GREATEST book!, May 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Valiant Hearts (Egypt Trilogy #3) (Paperback)
Wow! Linda delights us again in her most explosive book yet! I totally and completely fell in love with Valiant Hearts as soon as I read it. I just know that I'll be reading it hundreds more times!

Allison Wescott, in the final chapter of the Lions of the Desert saga, finds herself back in the Arabian Desert. Colonel Bret Holden has disappeared again (that guy has an aggravating knack for doing that! ) and she doesn't know if she'll see him again, much less marry him as they had planned. He seems to be avoiding her...

Allison goes back to Blaine House, haunted by memories of murder and stalkings, and has a close brush with death. And WHO, she wonders, keeps sending her white roses with cryptic, mysterious notes?

Suddenly, Bret reappears in her life. Bret, who works for the British CID, is brought under charges of smuggling treasure. Allison doesn't know what to think. Why is Bret acting so strangely and why does he seem to be rekindling his old flame with the gorgeous Cynthia Walsh?

But Allison has more threatening things to think about. She must discover the identity of the murderer from Blaine House...before he comes after her. The explosive, thrilling ending will keep you glued to the pages till the end!

Ooh, it was so exciting! Read it, I guarantee you'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Supper will be late..., September 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Valiant Hearts (Egypt Trilogy #3) (Paperback)
I was able to read this book and finish the series by going to the library, as the book is no longer in print. It was as hard to put down as the others, Arabian Winds and Lions of the Desert. I nearly ripped a page in an effort to keep up with the mystery. If your children are patient, the laundry can wait and supper can be ordered out for a couple of days, I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent, well-written book and a superb conclusion!, November 16, 2002
This review is from: Valiant Hearts (Egypt Trilogy #3) (Paperback)
I couldn't get over this book. I have read it at least more than a dozen times. I still think it's one of the best books I've ever read. Allison Wescott, a WWI British field nurse, is wondering about what the rumours in Cairo about the man she loves: Colonel Bret Holden. Bret is being accused of smuggling treasures and committing treason. Allison knows that the charges cannot be true. Bret Holden is one of the most valiant, loyal men she has ever met. Why the accusations? But Bret isn't anywhere near to tell her what is going on...and the Egyptian treasure, the golden statue of Nefertari that Allison and Bret had found in a sundial, is missing too. Could the accusations have some truth to them? Where is Bret? Then there is also the trial of Allison's cousin Gilbert Simonds along with a new speculation by Allison's sister Beth that Sarah Blaine's death is not what it had appeared at first. Did Gilbert really kill Sarah? If not then who? Allison must learn to trust in Bret and her Lord as she navigates through the treacherous path of espionage, murder, deceit, suspicion and betrayal. She then finds out that she has become the target of another murderer. The big fish that everyone is looking for. What does the future have in store for Allison and Bret? Will they come through this alive? A thriller story to be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. What a terrific conclusion to Linda Chaikin's LIONS OF THE DESERT series. I'm looking forward to whatever more is coming our way from her!

I loved this book! The whole series is fantastic, and this book was a perfect addition to it. The characters of Brent and Allison are very believable and very entertaining. The books also contain a good spiritual aspect and are very funny and touching in parts. I highly recommend them all. Superb read!

Allison and Bret are great characters. Bret is a loyal soldier for the British army but there were lies told about him that he committed treason! But he was nowhere to be found. Allison tries to find him and when she does they both became targets for the enemy spy. You wouldn't want to put this book down!!!!!! Way to go Linda!

This book was by far the best out of the Arabian Winds series! It kept me on my toes and I read it in one night! It was SO good..but i recommend you first read Arabian Winds and after that one Lions of the Desert and then finally read this one but the others are so interesting that it really makes you keep on reading these books. They were so good, filled with adventures and romance the best combination ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful end to a wonderful series!, December 16, 2006
This review is from: Valiant Hearts (Egypt Trilogy #3) (Paperback)
This is the third and final book in Linda Chaikin's Egypt trilogy, and it doesn't disappoint. Allison's back with a fresh tale of murder, espionage, and romance, as she deals with her relationship with British officer Bret Holden. These two characters will blow you away...the chemistry is amazing. Furthermore, the plot is so intricate and exciting that you'll be up all night reading it! Although the end is slightly rushed, it's still very well done and definitely a must-read for Christian romance, historical fiction, and mystery fans.

Be sure to check out book #1 in this series, "Arabian Winds", and book #2, "Lions of the Desert", before reading this one. And I hope you find it, as this is an extremely rare book!

Wow! I loved this whole series! Definitely my favorite! The last book wrapped everything up so well. I couldn't help but think this series reminded me of a "Ten Little Indians" meets "Indiana Jones" at "Pearl Harbor". Kind of a 'who-dun-it' mystery, which was great! It was suspensful, mysterious, romantic, and even (dare I say it?) educational! Awesome! A must read for anyone who wants an inspirational romance series with some meat to it!

Linda Chaikin is my favorite author. I've been searching out all her books to read, many now out of print. This series is not only my favorite of all her books, it's the best I've ever read. Period. The publisher should reprint them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valiant Hearts, April 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Valiant Hearts (Egypt Trilogy #3) (Paperback)
This was an excellent book. It artfully described the archiological world of World War 1 Egypt, that surrounded it's heroine, Allison. Allison is a remarkable character, strong, fiesty, independant, and human. She struggles to understand herself and her emotions towards the plot and people around her. An excellent mystery, romance, and historical fiction all in one. Two thumbs way, way up.
