Book Description

Workman Wall Calendars August 15, 2003
Continuing their successful collaboration, Boris Vallejo--America's premier fantasy artist--and Julie Bell--designer of the popular Dragons of Destiny sculpture series--present another year of powerful, dazzling, sensuous women triumphing in otherworldly settings. A sea goddess works magic over the water. A butterfly-winged fairy soars above a landscape of flowing lava. A warrior poses with her sword and eagle attendant. Muscles ripple, hair flows unbound, eyes flash with passion and intensity. Husband-and-wife team Vallejo and Bell create a year-long dance of the heroic and fantastic with an engrossing narrative by C. J. Henderson, author of the Teddy London series.

Book Description

This is the perennially best-selling fantasy calendar. For 2009 come thirteen all-new paintings from the vivid imaginations of husband-and-wife artists Boris Vallejo, America's premier fantasy artist, and Julie Bell, designer of the popular Dragons of Destiny sculpture series. They create a world that is dark, dynamic, and mysterious, ruled by magic and roamed by fearsome beasts. Plus captivating women: goddesses, huntresses, fairies, and mermaids, passionate and strong, rendered with precise anatomical detail. Weaving the images together is an all-new fantasy narrative by C.J. Henderson, author of the Teddy London Series. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

WORLDS OF ENCHANTMENT

Dragons rise from subterranean depths. Mists swirl over the land. Forces clash. Fates are settled—with grimacing finality—at swordpoint. Sprung from the imagination, yet rendered with anatomical clarity and a masterful detail, here is a dramatic place of nightmare and beauty created through the soaring vision of husband-and-wife fantasy artists Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell. A beguiling philosopher-witch breaks free from her icy prison. A goddess and a serpent tangle under the water. A fire-breathing beast emerges from the abyss. A sensuous mermaid rests in a serene cove. Talons curl, tendons flex, and out of the eye, a gleam of shuddering intensity. Thirteen all-new paintings herald the year. Weaving the images together is the engrossing original story "The Games of Nod," by C.J Henderson --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

1.0 out of 5 stars Artwork cut up & made ugly / unusable in previous year, January 8, 2008
I have been getting the calendar regliously for over 10 years. Last year I got one and was both shocked and dismayed that they placed the picture over the fold, so it was partially on the calendar date side. It looked terrible and made it impossible for me to do what I normally do, which is cut out the pictures and frame the nice ones after the year is over. Because of this, I will no longer buy thier calendars. Since they are sealed or only available online, there is no way to tell if they did this again. I'm sorry to see such a great calendar, that always had new, original art (something that can't me said for 95% of other calendars) that I looked forward to every year, destroy the art of the artist. I hope they take my advice and stop cutting the pictures off at the 75% mark. I can say with confidence I will never buy one again unless I can be certain this is not being done again.

I purchase this calendar every year. Their art work is amazing and from researching, these calendars sometimes increase in value as collectors items.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, October 24, 2005
This is a beautiful fantasy calendar. It is a gift for my son who receives a Boris Vallejo calendar every year for Christmas and then decorates his room with the large center pictures after the year is over. Have never been disappointed with this product over the years.
