1.0 out of 5 stars a dud, January 27, 2009
This review is from: The Valley of Aloes (Harlequin Romance #1158)
** Carol Tracey journeyed all the way to South Africa before she realized what a mistake she had made in becoming engaged to Laine Mulholland- a man she'd never met. She simply could not marry him- but how was she going to extricate herself from such a tricky situation? **

Carol corresponded with Laine for over a year before heading to South Africa to meet him. She accepted his engagement before the trip knowing he was 22 years older than her. She felt confident enough to marry him but then everything started to unravel once she got off the ship. Michael Copeland, twenty-six years old, met her when she arrived because Laine was in the hospital. They didn't hit it off; Michael thought she was a gold digger- she wasn't. Because of this he was sarcastic and mocked her.

There was no mystery... you knew how the story was going to end. I didn't feel that there was any love between Carol and Laine or anyone else for that matter. This was a very long boring story that desperately needed to be edited. I should have known better when the first page had an spelling error. I can't recommend this book.
