Book Description

May 18, 2003
A vicious murder has been committed in the Holland Park in London where a woman's body with her throat cut has been found. Jerry Stone, a disgraced TV reporter, has accidentally witnessed the murder and taped the victim's body and the killer hurrying away from the scene of the crime. But Jerry has not given up his videotape to the young police detective charged with the murder investigation. Jerry hopes to use the tape for restoring his credibility as an ace TV reporter. He began to suspect that he had been wrong in concealing the material evidence from the police investigator when a series of similar murders happened soon afterwards. The plot thickens as it becomes clear that it involves billions of dollars made by rogue psychologists within the framework of the EUTHANASIA project threatening numerous innocent lives.Who are the owners of the evil "business"? How are they spending the billions they are making in their horrible way? Are they mere puppets in some devilish show staged by unseen monster?By himself the ill-fated TV reporter Jerry Stone would hardly be able to penetrate the empire spreading its tentacles all over the world. But he was supported by a newspaper stringer, a secret service agent, the crime editor of the "Daily Sensation" newspaper, and unwittingly, by the murderer himself

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome thriller!, December 4, 2003
This review is from: In the Valley of Armageddon (Paperback)
At one breath have I read the novel "In the Valley of Armageddon" by Alexander Akishin. I'm shocked. This prose one would like to read over and over again. And every time you discover for yourself something new. And you can't get rid of the thought:" What a sleeping city has got to do with lonely cry?" Unfortunately, in that world of great amount of books, which is offered in recent decade to reader, it's hard to find something decent. However this novel is the very one, that captures you from the first pages and doesn't let you free, making you worry for heroes, their tragic love, think of tomorrow, which, maybe, will not come for many people. Despite the tragic plot, the author as if unwittingly proposes the reader to look at people, world that we live in, events in a new way. You begin looking in a different light at the war in Iraq and events in Middle East, explosions in Manhattan and Istanbul. One gets the feeling as if he is really present in those terrifying moments there... And you suddenly realize that destiny takes vengeance on those, who substitute it by themselves...

I'm sure that the readers will gladly plunge into the world of novel characters by Alexander Akishin "In the Valley of Armageddon".
