Great book,

This review is from: Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization (Exploding the Myths) (Paperback)
From the introduction of this book, you get the idea that Anthony Browder is very influence by the work done by John G. Jackson, John Henrik Clarke, and Yosef ben-Jochannan. These three men have done some of the most profound research and writing on early African history and the Nile Valley contribution to civilization. The writings of these men contain a lot of scholarship, which to many people may be very difficult to read and understand. This is why this book is so important. Anthony took what Jackson, Clarke, and Jochannan wrote about in their books and translated it so that the average person could read and understand. The theme of this book is centered on early Africa, early Africa's stolen legacy and early Africa's contributions to civilization. It also puts an emphasis on how those early contributions was translated into today's American society. In chapters 1-3, Mr. Browder talks about the people of early African civilization. He tells where they came from, who they were, what they did, and when they existed. He puts a special emphasis on the many accomplishments of the early African people. In chapters 4-7, Mr. Browder talks about the stolen legacy of early African civilization. He shows how other civilization took what the early African contributed and made it its own. He goes to great links to show and prove that what the Europeans claim as theirs was actually African in origin and rightfully belong to the African. In addition, he explains how American society has adopted early African symbols into its government structure. The finally chapters 8-10 are designed to assist the African/African-American mind to cope with the information given in chapters 1-7. The last chapters all have to do with building pride and understanding where we still must go and what we still must be. The period of this book stretches from about 4000BC into the present. The book is structured as to give a chronological development of early African history and its gives you a progressive pattern of how this history has contributed to civilization. The first seven chapters of this book are excellent. I have read many books on the subject of early African history and its contribution to civilization. This book is the easiest to read and understand. I believe that my son when he reaches the age of 10 would be able to read and comprehend this book. The only weakness of this book is chapters 8-10. These chapters I feel are an extension of his earlier books The Browder File Vol. II and I. I feel as though these chapters have nothing to do with the basic theme of this book, which is centered on early African history and its contribution to civilization Overall, I think that this is a very good book for young children or for adults who have an interest in learning about early African history.

A Must Read for ALL,

Although I have been out of college many years, I must say, in all of my schooling, I have not had a history lesson such as this. This book was excellent in showing the hidden history of Africans and our true accomplishments. I was amazed at how much has been taken from us and how many contributions have been made by our people. Much has been used without proper accreditation. I highly recommend this book and think that it should be read across all races.

Historical foundation for finding truth,

This review is from: Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization (Exploding the Myths) (Paperback)
What Nile Valley does is give you a chronological event of history. Browder supports his "uncommon" thought and findings with archealogical facts and findings. He intertwines everything from the origin of religions, to civilization of the now "America", to building architectures. In order to dispell any unfounded criticism he has walked through history from as far back as perhaps 5,000 B.C. in a chronological manner siting dates and even giving dynastic periods. He shows pictures recent and ancient, similarities between recent and ancient, and is even thorough enough to show you the manner in which "alphabets" progressed. The only reason I did not give him 5 stars is because he did not touch upon the origin of the multitude of races. More specifically the now European race. I felt this info would have been helpful for the reader in understanding why the caucasoid race is the most adamant in denying and hiding the origins of civilization. Scientifically, we learn as kids that black contains all the colors in the rainbow and white is absent of all the colors. This fact leads to a correlation of an origin that begin with black who then spawned all other colors. Therefore, our color now is a direct effect of geographical positioning over time, climate change, and adaptation to environments. I believe he could've presented this info better than I just tried and it would've given a better understanding, some kind of reasoning to the caucasoid Africans internal anger and denial. The Black African would then be more receptive and at least know the subconscious logic behind the actions of the caucasoid African. This book will force you to look deeper into history and start generating basic questions about current history taught.

Oh my God! This is truly a book that needs to book on the book shelves of every school library and in the hands of all teachers, whether they teach european history(plagarized african history) or are an african american studies teacher! Every parent also needs to add this to their book shelves and teach their children what the system won't! Don't be blind anyomore and stand up and take your place as the Pharoahs and Queens that we ARE! I have already begun and recommend that you do the same. Mr. Browder's daughter, Atlantis Browder, also has a chilren's book, for beginning, that is a good basis to start your children off with, I did! You feel betrayed for not being taught this in school, I know I did! Peace My Pharoahs and Queens of the World!

This book is a good start for all new students of Afrocentric Studies. This give a basic overveiw of information that has been researched by master teachers such as Dr.John Clarke, Dr.Ben, Gerald Massey, John G.Jackson, G.M. James, and many others. I would highly recommend this book to the highschool student as well as the freshman of college. I would also recommend this book as a refresher for the advance student of African Studies. This book can be used much like a christain uses a bible concordence.

Enlightening,

This review is from: Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization (Exploding the Myths) (Paperback)
I have to admit that this is what I consider to be the first real "african-american" history book that I have come across in my school years (although I had to find it on my own). I can only pray that maybe my grandchildren and greatgrandchildren will have the opportunity to recieve their lesson in african american pride in public/private schooling. But today, students remain subjected to a view of our past in a perspective that completely slants our perception of who we are.

This is a good beginner book brothers and sisters that are beginning to learn more about our history.
The material in the book was written in very plain, common sense that the average person can learn and build on. This is a must for your libaray and good material for our children to learn about our rich history. But this is only the begining for those who are in search for more light (knowledge). Peace,

This book is excellent for learning about Kemetic (Egyptian) origins. Everything that Bro. Browder says in this book is backed up with hard evidence. This book should be required reading for all. It opens your mind up to things that I bet you never knew. Unfortunately, most people will not read this book for different reasons. It is up to those of us who do have this book to spread this important information.

Know Thyself,
This review is from: Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization (Exploding the Myths) (Paperback)
This book has many illustrations and pictures. 95% of the sculptures in Egypt have their noses destroyed, but look carefully and you can see that the base structure of the nose is broad and African. "you can fool some people sometimes..."
Overall, the book is well put together. Lots of topics and great photo section. |
