5.0 out of 5 stars The seventh thrilling book in the Deltora Quest series., September 15, 2001
This review is from: The Valley of the Lost (Deltora Quest #7) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lief, Jasmine, and Barda have found six of the seven gems of the Belt of Deltora. But the final part of their journey may also be the most dangerous. The location of the seventh gem, the diamond, is the Valley of the Lost, a place from which no person has ever returned. But their determination to save their land is greater than their fear. Upon entering the swirling mists of the valley, they are immediately captured by the Guardian. In order to obtain the gem, they must decode the Guardian's riddle. If they try to steal the gem, they will be cursed with misfortune. But if they do not solve the puzzle, their souls will be trapped forever in this desolate place, and Deltora will remain forever under the control of the evil Shadow Lord. All fans of Deltora Quest won't want to miss this, the seventh book in this thrilling series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dragonlance for the younger crowd!, November 6, 2001
This review is from: The Valley of the Lost (Deltora Quest #7) (Mass Market Paperback)
This series of books not only made my 4th grader who loves to read disappear into it's pages for days on end by also entranced my 5th grader who thinks comic books are real books. The most wonderful part of this series is it's complete lack of that boy/girl mushy stuff that quite frankly my kids don't need yet another dose of!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Valley of the Lost (Deltora Quest #7) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Valley of the Lost was excellent, really good book. I have read a lot of the Deltora Quest books and this one was one of the best. Jasmine, Lief, and Barda(the main characters) have to find the 7 gems of the belt of Deltora. I liked it a lot because of one part which was very funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most thought-provoking in the series., July 2, 2003

This review is from: The Valley of the Lost (Deltora Quest #7) (Mass Market Paperback)
Valley of the Lost has been the best of the Deltora Quest books, because it more than the others encourages readers to solve plot puzzles before the characters do.
For instance, when Barda, Jasmine and Leif reach the guardian's abode of the seventh and final gem, they must undergo certain trials to gain the jewel. Further, each part of answer to the challenge question is another enigma all in itself. Some puzzles I figured out before the book gave them up, others stumped me. I believe even children in junior high would find this a delicious read.
Some very important series-broad plot lines are revealed in this book about Tora's link to Del; don't miss this one!
Plus: Doom's true identity is finally revealed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Maintains interest, and sets up finale, October 19, 2011

This review is from: The Valley of the Lost (Deltora Quest #7) (Mass Market Paperback)
There is some action here, but most of the book is puzzle solving, exploration, and the set up for the final installment of the series. If this were a standalone book that might be a problem, but since this is the book that sets up the ending its purpose is to set the stage, and it does that well.

the series remains smart, eventful, and well-written, and remains an excellent fantasy/quest intro for younger readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating enigma in the Deltora mysteries, August 28, 2008
This review is from: The Valley of the Lost (Deltora Quest #7) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is practically the denoumont of the Deltora Quest. The group finds themselves in the abandoned city of Tora and find the ghosts of the citizens in a mysterious world run by a villanous stranger.

Outside the bizarre wilderness of the earlier books, here is a strange palace of beauty and coldness and a mytery that will leave you stunned when the answer is revealed.
