This review is from: Valley of Shadows (Paperback)
Y. I. Lee is adept at creating vivid characters and a fantasy world that you can see in your own mind. And in Valley of Shadows, the fantasy world is allegorical. The reader follows the characters as they journey through a dark and fearful place, and spiritual truths, rewards as well as dangers, are illustrated by the challenges they face.
I'd already read another book by this author and knew she could paint vivid images, but the allegory in Valley of Shadows revealed another of her strengths. And it provided a very satisfying conclusion. She held me from the first page. I'm looking forward to reading her next offering. |
