My Thoughts On The Valley Tow 53410 Hitch Aligner,
By James W "James F Wyly" (Sulphur Springs, TX) - See all my reviews

I've been using this product for two years now and I absolutely love it. Finally I found a product that didn't require me to jump in and out of my truck 25 times to hook my trailer up. It has saved me ton's of time just trying to hook up. This product works. My only problem is they a cheaply made. If your not extremely careful in no time at all this product will come apart on you. I don't think mine can be saved anymore. I have taped and taped trying to hold mine together, but now I think they are beyond repair. So again, product works great but don't expect it to last long.

You need this if you are going to hitch a trailer by yourself. It saves lots of time. I saved the packaging and put it right back in the package when I am done and store it on my trailer. It is sold by Amazon and is the cheapest product I could find... with free shipping included. I don't think it will fall apart any time soon, but if the foam balls come off any time soon, I will apply some elmers glue. i think the keay to long life is putting them back in their "case" and keeping them out of the son. They have the standard antenna extension, so I would keep them away from kids. I have busted up many antennas during my child hood. Happy recreating.

This is my idea of a perfect product. Low-tech, simple to use, ingenious and does just exactly what it says it will. I use it every week for hitching up the band trailer. It's also quite well made. The magnets are strong and the telescoping rod is good quality. I'd thought the balls would be made of styrofoam, but they're actually something more substantial. I'd recommend this item -- a good product at a fair price.

I think it is a good idea in concept and others have been able to take advantage of it, but, it didn't seem to do the trick for me. The magnet base is flat so it would not balance on top of the trailer hitch as pictured, I had to place it on the front lip. The magnet base was also not wide enough to reliably stay on the truck hitch. I just got back from a long road trip, used this for the first couple of hook ups then abandoned it for the old "wait for the ball to bump the trailer hitch" trick.

I am a new Rv'er and travel alone and this product is great for aligning your hitch to your camper. First time i tried it i fell in love with how easy it is to back up and align my camper. This thing is great and for the price you can't be it. It is so easy. I would recommend it to anyone that is having trouble aligning and backing up to get the camper attached to your vehicle. it's worth the money.

I ordered this unit and was excited to try it out as quick as possible. I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra double cab with a camper shell over the bed. I was disappointed to find that even at full extension, these units were not tall enough to be seen through the back window. I am sure they would have been a great tool for someone with a smaller vehicle.

Works almost as described. Off about 1" but if you know this, just move one ball over 1" and everything lines ups perfectly. I'm using the "back up" feature in the rear view mirror of my F250 and this could be what throws it off a bit. Great item. Saves multiple ins and outs of the truck.

I am a 61 year old woman who recently lost my husband and camping partner, so I purchased these so I wouldn't have to quit camping with my little trailer. They work beautifully, but break SO easily that mine were finished after hitching up less than a dozen times. I would be willing to pay just a little bit more for something that will last a little longer and take a little more abuse.

I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet but it appears to be very simple to use.
