Editorial Reviews

With Valleyheart - their third full-length offering - She Wants Revenge has achieved the kind of dynamic catharsis every band hopes it will survive long enough to experience: rising up out of their diverse influences, She Wants Revenge has taken flight, fully realizing a sound all their own.

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT THE SAME< BUT JUST AS GOOD May 23, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Heard the streamed version online, bought the valleyheart signed cd, cant stop listening. This isn't the same She Wants Revenge sound we've all grown accustomed too. In fact none of the cd's are very similar. The Ep's Vary just the same. Valleyheart ranges from a happy neo dance sound, to the gloomy sound I love, too a raunchy dance sound i quite enjoy. You can tell the band has changed the sound and experimented a lot. If you were looking for the gloomy, electronic feel you might be disappointed, but in my opinion youd be missing out if you didn't give this a listen. I won't say every song caught my attention but 7 out of the 10 did. Take the world, Up in Flames, Reasons, Little stars, Suck it up big boy (probably the best song on here in my opinion), Holiday song, Maybe Shes Right (very much the old she wants revenge and 2nd best on the cd). are the headliners. The other three songs are a little to happy for me, but i did enjoy them. All in all a great new feel of she wants revenge and a pleasant listen. Give it a shot, it's different BUT in a good way :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Give It Time. May 24, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Since day one, i have always loved the sound of She Wants Revenge. Their sound is raw and cold and i loved it because you couldnt find anything more straight lyrically. If your buying this album with the intentions of hearing their signiture sound, your not gonna find it here. You have two songs tops that might get somewhere close but in the long run it's airey. if your a devoted fan you will learn to love it but keep in mind youre gonna have it give it time to grow on you.

2.0 out of 5 stars What Happened?!? August 31, 2011
By Matt
Format:Audio CD
I loved this band's S/T debut and follow up album This Is Forever. They were both quite dark musically and lyrically. There was a raw, almost dangerous vibe to their sound unlike anyone else and so much more real than anyone else. I waited in anticipation for a third album and when it was released I was quite excited to pick it up. How disappointed I was when I heard it. Suddenly everything is sunshine and happiness. There are a couple songs that vaguely (very vaguely) sound like what we've come to love and appreciate this band for, but lyrically nothing comes close. It sounds as if the band has found love and fulfillment in the last couple years. If I wanted to listen to songs about that, I'd be looking in more mainstream directions - speaking of which, the singer's voice and style has changed up somewhat as well. It now sounds to me as if he's going for something like a cross between the singer from the Killers and Bono.

Overall, if you loved the band's earlier work for what made it special, you will likely be disappointed with this release.

Lighter, fluffier, and kind of lame…

I love She Wants Revenge's previous 2 albums. They're brooding, somewhat bitter, and have a purpose to them. Read more

One of the best CDs I've ever bought, just a pity I won't be seeing them playing live in Australia anytime soon!

I own all their other albums, this one is a little more happy and upbeat from the others, so I didn't expect that. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars I don't have time or energy to listen to this album in it's entirity.
This is actually a 0 star rating. Keeping it short while also "keeping it real", the following: I really was excited about this Post-Punk/Goth/Darkwave Ian Curtis (Joy Division)... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Not A Fan Of This Record
It's sometimes typical for a band on their third go round (speaking full albums) to make a step into the commercial foray, but this album is bland at best in my humble opinion. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!
I love SWR--they get better with each album. This a really excellent album, filled with great hooks and melodies. The lyrics are neurotic, desperate, and darkly romantic. Read more
