4.0 out of 5 stars Valor Prong Kubotan
I had a similar kubotan for many years before, but it broke about a year and a half ago due to seeing a lot of use.

I bought a pair of these hoping they would be the same as the one I had before, but they were not. Due to the existence of only a few spiked kubotan vendors, I thought most of the products would be the same.

I had a similar kubotan for many years before, but it broke about a year and a half ago due to seeing a lot of use.

I bought a pair of these hoping they would be the same as the one I had before, but they were not. Due to the existence of only a few spiked kubotan vendors, I thought most of the products would be the same.

This one shipped and arrived really quickly. When I opened it, the points seemed rather flat at the ends compared to my old kubotan. It was as if someone decided that tapering it was too dangerous and just cut off part of the tips to make them flat. This reduces the effectiveness a bit, but it is still quite a sturdy item. I also noticed that the hole in which the keychain ring fits into the kubotan is lined with rust. Not paint, not dirt. Rust. I thought it was a mistake but, since I bought two, I also inspected the other one. It, too, has rust. This was disappointing because my old one had the black finish on the entire thing, even inside the hole.

The item is not like the one in the picture, but the difference is small. A decent buy, but I recommend getting a more tapered kubotan to better focus the power of your blows (in case you actually have to hit someone).

I had ordered the "same" product from a different vendor... They were slightly different...their spikes were further apart... which made them uncomfotable. These are better, closer, more comfortable. Thank you for selling a superior product.

5.0 out of 5 stars a classic, April 25, 2011

This is the self-defence tool for people who don't study the martial arts. If it's used as a key chain it's always available, it hurts no matter where you hit someone, and it's very low lethality.

Just got this and I like the way its constructed. Because of it's weight, 5 oz. it feels like it's made of steel not aluminum but I'm not 100 percent sure of that.
Total length is 5 3/4 inches. The spikes are about 1 3/4 inches long. The top part where you grip it is actually 6 sided which I think gives a better grip. The fnish is smooth. The bottom part tapers to a rounded tip. The middle finger goes between the spikes allowing them to stick out. Because of its construction I would only carry this keychain if I were going into an environment where I felt I really might encounter serious danger otherwise I'll leave it in my cars glove box. I purchased an aluminum one of these Kubotan-Black Keychain Self Defense with a flat end and no spikes which I carry all the time. Having both types allows me the option of carrying whichever keychain I feel is most needed at the moment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valor, December 9, 2011

It arrived just as descrbed---It's a very comfortable fit in a fist, the two prongs are spaced enough for your middle finger to fit through. The weapon is designed perfectly for use . The prongs are sharp, Overall, I think the weapon serves the purpose it was designed for: It's fairly heavy for a key ring, though definetely not so much that it's cumbersome. The attached key ring is very convienent, as you can always carry it with you.

Spikes are way too far apart. I can almost fit 2 of my fingers in between them. Also too heavy to keep on a key chain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, lightweight, highly portable self-defense weapon, October 13, 2011

I purchased this for my girlfriend about 2 weeks ago. It arrived just as descrbed---It's a very comfortable fit in a fist, the two prongs are spaced enough for your middle finger to fit through. The weapon is designed perfectly for use similar to brass knuckles. The prongs are sharp, but not enough to actually penetrate skin, unless a lot of force was used. Overall, I think the weapon serves the purpose it was designed for: To deter anyone from attacking you, and harm those that try. It's fairly heavy for a key ring, though definetely not so much that it's cumbersome. The attached key ring is very convienent, as you can always carry it with you.
