My (...) son absolutely loves this jet. With all of the sounds and features described in the previous reviews, the jet keeps him entertained and keeps his imagination flowing. The only feature I don't like is that so many parts, i.e. wing tips, pilot cockpit cover, and missile cover break off so easily. But they do reattach easily, and do seem to be quite durable. This jet has been dropped and stepped on quite a few times as well, and without anything breaking, so it is built well for a toy. I bought it for $5 less at Target, and overall it has been a great purchase.

I have a 7 year old and he wanted this so bad. The pull down handle is hard to get down and then to fire it you have to turn these two dials that you can actually look through like binoculars. Those dials are so hard to set where they need to be set to fire. Then the firing mechanism gets stuck repeatedly.
Now for the winds. WHY OH WHY can they not make them attached. They keep falling off and was really frustrating my son. I finally superglued them on. The cock pit cover never stays secure and after repeatedly putting it back on it broke. Was it worth it NO. They guy that found it for $10 got a better deal than any. Would I buy it again..NO. It is too heavy for a child to play with and "fly" around. It looks nice- but that is where it stops for us.

I first saw this jet on here and wanted it so bad, but for $35 i was skeptical so i went to my local Toys R Us and saw how big it was and kinda got even more reluctant. You will love this jet as its a real detailed jet and the likes havn't been seen since the 80's and in all this is one of the best flyer i've seen in a while (i'm talking realistic planes here). I did manage to get one of these when i went to walmarts where i found it clearance for $10 so i had to get it then. Only thing it was lacking was the 2 figures (had them anyways) and the cover for the missle launchers in top which i easily made one for it. This jet has so much firepower its incredible and would provide lots of enjoyment and if your into a morerealistic feeling, the Thunderwing is for you. Honestly if I had more space, i'd buy another one even for $35, just hard when you have so little room and you have big vehicals (not that would be a problem for some people). so go and buy this at your local toys r us or from here before they are all gone!

Thunderwing
Based off the F-22 Raptor, Hasbro has done right by this jet for most gi joe fans the fack you and shoot the missles and use the sound effect without pulling down the handles will be a high light. For me thow it was the bomb/missle sights (you look down the back end of the engine and it depends on what you have selected on what you see, Missle mode looks forward, bomb mode looks down. While the sound voice telling you banking left/right, pulling up, and going down are abit of a headack but still a neat part of the jet an on off swich would have been nice. with 2 sets of bombs that drop from the trigger and 10 missles that shoot out from a internal launcher, all this makes me say... worth every penny. go buy Slipstream has a VARY nice looks closer to USAF pilot then most the other Joe pilots but hes just gravy to add on this deal wait there is more Ace He comes as a bonus (at least on the 2 I bought) hes a great figure to have if you missied out on this one for what ever reason here is your chance to pick him up agein (only draw back i have of this guy is hes the same ace right down to his color as the one that came with the tigerhawk) Overall Bluntly... GI Joe has NOT had a strong jet sents the 80's (skystriker hint hint) personaly think there on the right track with this one is a vary nice jet and the figures are great. Should almost paint Ace green with envy over this one. (poor ace stuck in the tigerhawk)

My son was so excited to get this plane, and then totally disappointed with it- but it's not really for playing with, even though it's supposed to be a toy. It fell apart pretty much right away....

I bought this toy for my son who was 9 at the time. I bought it sight unseen (online) as a Christmas present and wanting to be 'the first on the block' to have one. I have bought Joes for my sons since 1982. Anyone familiar with the old Joes and vehicles knows that 'some assembly required' meant at least an hour or two of pieces and stickers until completion. This thing was 90% ready out of the box. Pop in the wing tips, load the pilot and it's time to play. The folding trigger mechanism is ingenius as it allows for 2 different modes of play. Great sound effects are one of the unexpected plusses. The jet is built to last... the landing gear is made from a more durable, resiliant plastic than in some of the previous years. Not the most educational toy but a whole lot of fun. WARNING! If you buy one, siblings, nephews, and neighborhood children will want one also! Be prepared! YO JOE!

My boys LOVE this jet....they are 4 1/2 and love planes/jets. They also are fascinated by "army" guys...so we thought this would be a hit.
They love to fly it around...it has a nice handle for them to hold while doing this. It also came with a guy (or 2? I can't recall). The jet shoots little missiles, which is neat, and it has other missile pieces on the sides. Sometimes they pop off parts of the wings, or the part which covers the missiles (which you reload), but everything snaps back on easily. Great toy for boys ages 4 and up. |
