With little information other than the tri-fold behind the paint desk at Lowes, we decided to use this product and the acid-etch on our living room floor. Preparation of the bare concrete surface is critical. We had to remove a layer of paint and tile mastic to expose virgin concrete. Don't waste your time with solvents and floor maintenance machines...after days of effort, we found that neither will work. Rent a heavy duty die-grinder and buy the diamond tipped cup, and don't forget the high capacity vacuum. Get on your knees and you'll be done in a few hours. Now spend 1/2 a day to wash and vacuum the floor + another 1/2 day to dry. Then etch the floor + 1 day to dry. Then 1 day to again wash several more times and let dry. These are drying-time periods based on summer weather conditions in New Mexico.
Now you are ready to apply this product. Follow the directions carefully. However, be aware that stated coverage of this product is far too optimistic at 300-400 square feet. You'll be lucky to get 200 square feet out of the one gallon kit. After discovering this, we had to get a 2nd gallon and found, to our profound disappointment, that the 2nd gallon dried darker than the first. As a result, we've got this strange, silly looking dark strip running down the center of our living room. It's really unfortunate because once dried, the finish is really quite handsome, like well-worn saddle leather. Too bad the coverage is so paltry and the product so inconsistent. For a garage, it might not matter; but, for a living room, this result is unacceptable.
To have worked so hard and spent so much, for this crummy result is both embarrassing and deeply frustrating.
