the plastic chess pieces are durable, the vinyl roll-up board makes it easy to carry along, also a durable piece. the green & white squares makes it easy on the eyes with less contrast than black and white. all this comes with a dirt cheap price, great buy overall! taurusjimmy

This chessboard and pieces are such an incredible value. It's wonderful having a rollup chessboard to bring while traveling, and the board and pieces are quite durable. A must-buy for any on-the-go chess fan.

Being able to teach and play on an over-sized "board" is amazing. It just makes everything easier. I recommend getting a carry case though.

Recently I organize a Chess tournament. These sets are great for these kind of games: transportable, useful and the players can fill that they are working with real tournament board and pieces.

I teach first grade and every year I teach my class chess. It was not until this year, however, that I discovered this chess set. The mat is vinyl, rolls up nicely, and most importantly, unrolls and maintains a flat shape. My students play chess a lot and this is the first year that I will not have to repurchase chess sets for the new year. The pieces are nothing special- easily identifiable and that is it. This is not a "special" chess board by any stretch of the imagination; but for me, and the repeated usage my needs demand, this chess set is ideal.

Other than the bottom of each pieces fabric coming off and needing to be glued back on. This chess set is perfect for play.

This chess set was purchased for a friend of mine first, then for my kids also. The vinyl board is perfect for my kids, is very durable and they use it for other things than a chess board, like just with their other toys, however they see fit. And they're learning the rules of chess so it's a good started chess game. The pieces are big enough for them to see the differences in what they are, are not TOO easily lost (my 5 yr old likes to play with them on their own) and are durable. I would recommend this.

This chess set is great for ages 6 and up. The pieces are large and solid feeling. The board/mat rolls out flat even after being stored for a long time. Also, the board/mat is labeled to help children place it correctly. It would also allow children to easily follow recorded games. 5 stars for feel and functionality.
