Product Description

Straight from the Vital Apparatus Vent comes the Weighted Companion Cube Plush. It will accompany you through the test chamber and generally be adorable and squishy. We expect you will take care of it while it is in your possession. The Enrichment Center reminds you that the Weighted Companion Cube Plush cannot speak, threaten you, or stab you. (That paranoia you feel is totally normal.) In the event that the Weighted Companion Cube does speak, we urge you to disregard its advice, especially if said advice pertains to the veracity of cake.

The best thing about the Weighted Companion Cube Plush is that you never have to euthanize it. That's right, friends. Unless you happen to have an Aperture Science Emergency Intelligence Incinerator in your house, there's no reason to incinerate your cute lil' cube friend. (Studies have proven that those 8 out of 10 Aperture Science engineers were wrong and the Weighted Companion Cube does in fact feel pain upon incineration.) You may have incinerated one or two Weighted Companion Cubes in your time, but now is time for penance. Squeeze it, feed it cake, and love it long time.

Made very nice, good stitching.

Just saying...if you are going to buy a totally unnecessary thing, you may as well pay the least you can!

It looks exactly like it does in the picture, and it's soft.

TBH, I wanted nothing more than to buy this Portal-themed plushie and love the ever-loving heck out of it... But before you purchase one just out of pure squee-inducing delight, there are some minor construction issues you may want to be aware of.

Note: The following information is not sanctioned by the Enrichment Center. (It is also based on the model I received.)

Issue #1: Not really that plush.
Considering the variety of soft, plushy materials out there... the makers of this cube do not use them. The outer fabric is polyester fiber, and reminds me of a well-loved blanket that has gone through the wash too many times. The material is sort of felt-like, and borderlines on abrasive. It's still quite squeezable (and makes a good pillow in a pinch!), but I would love this cube so much harder if it was just a wee bit softer on the face.

Issue #2: Other scratchy parts.
The 'tabs' supporting each side of the face (those little gray rectangles in the picture) have scratchy edges, reminiscent of velcro. But they don't really serve a purpose. They are a design decision that detracts from the overall product. Did I mention they're scratchy?

Issue #3: Asymmetry (at least on mine).
This bothers my OCD side. The 'top' and 'bottom' faces don't match up. If the top heart faces north-south, the bottom heart faces west-east... All the other hearts at least face the same direction...

THAT BEING SAID. I love my Companion Cube. I will not tolerate friends who try to mock-euthanize it either. But know what you're getting before-hand. This toy is for adult fans of Portal, not for the infants of adult fans of Portal. Now excuse me while I go cuddle with my cube.

Who doesn't want a Weighted Companion Cube, I mean, purchasing one is like saving one more from being dropped into a fiery furnace. Totally worth the purchase, even if it isn't life size.

and i'm so happy you can get a weighted companion cube that you're actually allowed to grow close to!

It's hard to overstate my satisfaction with my companion cube. I would never incinerate it and love its constant reassurance during difficult tasks. But look at me still talking when there's science to do!

Great for bring back memories of Portal, some good and bad. Now you can have your own cube and never have to get rid of it. Valve's home page sells then for $30 and they are a great comical presant to any gamer who has played Portal....

CAKE IS A LIE!!!!

I love this plush, I bought it as a gift, and was satisfied with the price. I was worried when it arrived, thinking it would be too small...but it was the prefect size. A wonderful gift. Very soft, but durable.

"cubie" is what my kids call the weighted companion cube.

this is not a super hq toy (material isn't the best), but not crap either. i don't know how durable it is, because i like it enough that i don't treat it roughly. i would say that if euthanizing your cube in portal traumatized you, or if the end of portal 2 made you cry with joy (yes, i cried, and it made my week, i was so happy to get it back), then this toy is for you. everyone else, well, i dunno.

also, it is fairly squishy. even as someone who uses a stuffed fish for a pillow every nite (my fish is firm and the right shape), i'm not sure i agree with the reviewer who said it serves as a pillow. i think i would be concerned about damaging the nice cube shape if i rested my big head on it much.

note that it has a big black portal tag poking out of one of the seams. you may consider that a bonus or a detriment to the cube's aesthetic.

For Christmas, I received a Plush Companion Cube. Sometimes it sings songs to me, a function I didn't realize they had until playing Portal 2. It has never threatened to stab me, and enjoys playing co-op mode of the second game and eating cake. However, it cringes at GLaDOS's voice. It has truly taught me the meaning of friendship.

Jokes aside, it's adorable and soft and quite huggable. Thank you to Valve for making a plush version of this fan favorite.
