Paralamas do Sucesso - or simply Paralamas - is one of the greatest bands in Brazil ever. Herbert Vianna has long confimed his ability to writte beautiful music, which can be attested by the various artist that have recorded his songs. Paralamas has its own page on the Brazilian pop music. They were there at the begginning and still rock both new and old fans! The "Vamo bate lata" album gives you an overview of the music from Herbert and his fellow musicians. Great for those who know the band, essential for those who don't. Sadly, Herbert has had an accident that caused real serious problems with side effects on him and, for such reason, he has not performed or written new material for the last months. We hope and pray he recovers soon so that we can be delighted with new music of his!

This CD has changed my life -- I love to dance to it at home in my apartment. I greatly appreciate any and all information about these swell and talented guys.

It had been a while since I last heard Paralamas Do Sucesso, but this morning, the live version of "Linterna Dos Afogados" found on this album creeped in behind me and took me by surprise. I realized it had been almost a decade since this album had come out (in Brazil), and a little longer since the song first came out. Yet it sounded as fresh as the first time I heard it.

Along with Barão Vermelho, Titãs and Legião Urbana, Paralamas Do Sucesso was part of a legendary group of Brazilian rock bands that saw the peak of their success in the eighties and nineties. This album constitutes a live testimonial of their music at the height of their success. They'd record a couple more albums after it, along with Unplugged MTV album and another compilation, before the tragic accident suffered by Herbert Vianna, the band leader and the genius behind their music. Fortunately, he was able to recover, and record again with the band, so we are still fortunate to have more music by Paralamas to enjoy for some time now.
