Resnick Does it Again!,

This review is from: Vamparazzi: An Esther Diamond Novel (Kindle Edition)
I've loved all the Esther Diamond series books, but I have to say that Vamparazzi is my favorite so far. Resnick does a great job of researching ancient vampire lore and it shows. I had thought the whole vampire thing to be over and done, but she proves they still have legs as long as the author helps us look at vampires through a new lens.Resnick also does a great job of integrating and fleshing out current characters in the story, instead of bringing in all new ones to tell the tale. We learn a great deal more about Max and Thack. And of course, she does a great job of continuing the sexual tension between Lopez and Esther. ROWR! All of the Esther Diamond books have been lighthearted and fun, but this one was laugh out loud funny, taking pokes at our fixation with fame and actors, as well as actors themselves. I can't wait for the next one!

BEWARE THE VAMPARAZZI,

This review is from: Vamparazzi: An Esther Diamond Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Esther Diamond is at it again, accidentally confronting Evil while trying to balance her acting career and trying NOT to think of her non-existant love life. She has a main female role of a gothic play THE VAMPYRE, but dealing with an obnoxous female dressing roomie, a manic-depressive stage manager, tabloid reporters, and the lead actor claiming to be a vamipre can drive anyone crazy. Not to mention that he agent has not even come to watch her perform. But when a female fan of Daemon (who attacks her thinking she can get to the actor) ends up dead, he is the head of the suspect list and her ex-almost boyfriend Detective Lopez thinks that she may be on the killers list. Consulting with her friend Max (350 years old), she learns a lot of the vampire race and the reason why he asks if people are from Lithuania (a great story in itself). Can she locate the actual vampire and stop him (since vampires can only be male) before she herself ends up the blue plate special? This book has everything you expect from Esther and company. The author really brings Max, Lopez and Esther to life. I enjoyed the backstory of Max's life, and also enjoyed seeing Esther's agent Thack for the first time as a major character (to which I will not spoil several surprises he brings, to which he compares some of his life to Esther's). This book will keep you glued until you are finished with it and can not wait for the next one, Polterheist. PS. I do hope she brings Lucky and Puma back, they are such interesting characters. Later.

The best Esther Diamond yet!,
By Eclectic Reader (Maryland USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vamparazzi: An Esther Diamond Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I've greatly enjoyed all the Esther Diamond books, of which this is the fourth, and this one most of all. It's a vampire book for people who don't like vampires. *g* Laura Resnick has created a really interesting vampire mythology, but the humor is even better. The scene where Esther explains all the reasons that a vampire is a TOTAL non starter as a love object was ROFL funny.I'm glad to better understand Max's thing about Lithuanians, and the hints about what might unexpected abilities Lopez might have are really intriguing. I'll be counting the months till the next in the series comes along.
