Book Description

When life gave Jane pointy teeth, she decided to make the most of them. In this 15,000-word novella, Jane takes you with her on one of her jobs and goes through the harrowing tale of how she fell in love and lost more than just her life.

This is the first part of a series of novellas. The novellas are not stand-alone and should be read in sequence, as each one builds upon the last. Books 2-4 are available in a bundle at half price. Look for Jane (Vampire Assassin Series) on Amazon.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Jane is a series that chronicles the life (and death) of Jane, a young woman who became a vampire through less than desirable circumstances. These are serial novellas, similar to what you may find in a fantasy magazine. Vampire Assassin, the first installment, runs approximately 15,000 words.

Other novellas in the series:
New Blood (Jane #2)
Blood & Tears (Jane #3)
Redemption (Jane #4)

Jane (Vampire Assassin Series, Books 2-4)

3.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, not great execution July 31, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I got this book free from [...] in exchange for a review.

This really turned me off for the first half of the book. The character is talking to you, the audience not thinking to herself. I do not like the character including me in the story so blatantly.

However, looking past that, the story started fairly interestingly, as a vampire assassin.

And then turns 360 and becomes a love story and how she turned into a vampire. Which is fine and all, but the title is "vampire assassin" and doesn't mention a reason why she became one. It just ends with the tragic love story. So while the love story was unbelievably sweet and much more realistic than the Twilight series, the story only gets three stars because of the point of view and the fact that the assassin part is never explained in this first part.

I'd probably recommend you read it if you can get past the odd point of view just for the sweet love story, but don't expect too much. The love story is very two dimensional, though sweet, because it's a memory and not happening play-by-play. I think that if it was more of a flashback, where the character was "living" in the moment it would have done a whole lot better.

4.0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings August 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Its hard to rate some books. This one starts talking about this guy Bob what he looks like and talking to his misstress and it would take him an hour to get home.
Then she describes how fast vampires can walk. Then follow into his garage and kills him and how and why. I really did not like much of the first part of story.
But then she talks more about her life and when she met her co-worker on a film and they fell for each other. The rest of story got me caring about Jane and Steven.
I ended up shedding tears I was into the story. I would read more about Jane and see how much I liked that book if their is a next one.
I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward to the next one now! May 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
First off this was a very quick and easy read! I found myself laughing at Jane as she was narrating herself through the first several chapters. Quick wit played a big part in the beginnings of this book.

The author did a good job with the technical writing of the book. The language was easy to understand and flowed very nicely. The information that she shared was mostly necessary to portray her story and get you involved.

There are two main characters in this book, Jane and Steven. Both characters were well thought out and the history of how they came to be made sense and worked nicely.

My one thought through the book was why is she an assassin? Book one did not answer that exactly, and I would have liked to know, but it is very obvious that the reason will be showing up soon in book two. I am hoping that this reason makes me feel happier, not because I didn't like the story, but because I wanted to cry at the end of the book.

Enjoyable quick read that will have your laughing, thinking and close to tears with emotion. I'm looking forward to reading book two!!!

This book was pointless, there was no reason for it.

This was a slow boring read for me. Maybe it was too much detail, is that possible? Doesn't mean I won't try the author again though. I'll try one more time!
