Book Description

An innovative take on the vampire mythos, fusing erotic romance with dark fantasy. --Kirkus Reviews

2013 a Gold Medal Winner of the Readers' Favorite International Book Award Contest

Vampire Elite is the epic story of a bitter conflict between two immortal races and the effect of that conflict on everyone living in its grip. The characters are driven to love and betrayal, vengeance and sacrifice in a world without easy black-and-white answers.

A millennia-long war between two immortal races is about to come to an end. Long ago, the Vampire Elite began capturing the immortals called the Amiti, attracted by their unique blood properties. Now most Amiti live in underground cells, forced to serve as vampires' bloodstock. The few surviving free Amiti, preparing a final strike, have declared the Amiti Queen a traitor. Her execution makes possible the rise of a new Queen, her young daughter Arianna, who will inherit her mother's mystical powers. Working with the Keepers of the Key, Arianna may be able to eliminate the vampires, once and for all, from the face of the earth.

The new Queen is the last hope to save her dying race, and she's ready to fight to the last drop of her blood.
But the King of the Vampires has other plans.

KIRKUS Reviews on Vampire Elite:

An innovative take on the vampire mythos, fusing erotic romance with dark fantasy.
Perhaps the most impressive element of this novel is its meticulously constructed back story featuring a vampire race born from the blood--and bloodlust--of a vengeful Egyptian goddess. To complement this new race, the angelic Amiti were created by Hathor, the goddess of love and beauty, to "unlock the love hidden within the vampires." Amiti and vampires were drawn to each other like magnets, and their union, called a blood-bond, promised to unlock revelatory powers in both participants. But the vampires, cautious of the Amitis' potential power over them, began hunting down and enslaving them, keeping the Amiti as bloodstock. The novel's main storyline revolves around two half-sisters, Simone and Arianna. The first Amiti queen, Istara, is their mother; Simone's father is Tor, the vampire king, while Arianna's is another Amiti. In a world where the two sisters should be mortal enemies, they're instead the best of friends. But can Simone save her sister from the enslavement that awaits her? The novel is powered by a cast of well-developed characters and virtually nonstop action and also includes subtle, significant themes, such as the innate capacity for every creature to love and be loved: "Love at its best...was a reciprocal flow of energy, but even when it was not flowing in, it could still flow out. Like a bird, love made its nest in every heart." That said, this novel will provide a fine meal for readers who enjoy literary fare with generous helpings of intrigue, action and supernatural sex....

From the Author

What Makes Vampire Elite Different from Other Vampire Novels?

VE is really about the interactions between vampires and the Amiti, an immortal race created to protect humanity from vampires. Amiti are literally made to be vampires' perfect blood source, the perfect complement to vampires in every way. The catch is that when Hathor created the Amiti, she wanted to make sure that vampires didn't completely dominate them, so when a vampire drinks from an Amiti, it creates a blood-bond that enables the Amiti to control the vampire. And, as we know, vampires like power, and hate to lose control, so before long they found a workaround: if they drained Amiti blood artifically, it lost its power. Soon the vampires were capturing all the Amiti they could, imprisoning them as bloodstock, and the free Amiti struck back--and the violence escalated from there. Now the remaining free Amiti are preparing to annihilate all the vampires. And the vampires, of course, are doing whatever they can to keep that from happening. Want to know how it all plays out? Welcome to the world of the Vampire Elite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vampires with a Mix of Egyptian Legend, Loved It! June 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Vampire Elite is the first book in a new series by Irina Argo. The vampire elite are using a sub species of immortal called the Amiti as their bloodstock. They are kept in captivity and used solely to feed the elite. The Amiti want their freedom and their new Queen wants to help achieve this, war between the species could potentially eradicate both races, but they continue to fight for the upper hand.

This book is full of some of the most amazing characters. More than I could ever write about in a short review. I sometimes find that I am confused when dealing with a lot of characters in one book that play prominent roles, but Argo did the perfect job of introducing them to the reader and making their roles clear. All of these characters interacted flawlessly. Arianna is the young Queen of the Amiti, she is still unaware of her power and her role, but she does know she has to do what she can to free and protect her people. It is the goal of Tor, the vampire king, to make Arianna fall in love with him to keep her under his thumb, but soon finds the feeling of love mutual. Simone is another pivotal character in the book; she is daughter of Tor and half-sister to Arianna. In the beginning I did not like her character, she came across as selfish and spoiled, but I began to see subtle changes in her as the book progressed.

With a touch of Egyptian Mythology, I found this book to be beautifully written. This was one of the few times that I became so entranced in a book I forgotten it was my job to review it! The book isn't a fast paced thriller, yet it appeals to the heart. Argo showed a world that isn't black and white. There was no defined good and bad or love and hate. It was the gray areas that made this story worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vampires Don't Really Exist ... Or Do they? June 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book based on the recommendation of a friend - and I'm really glad I did. It's a great read, fast paced and full of interesting plot twists. Every time you think you have things figured out, something new will happen that reveals there is more going on than you suspected.

I really enjoy books that make me believe in the characters and the story. The authors have created a very rich and multi-faceted world, full of history and well-developed, sophisticated characters. For me, that was in some ways the best part of the book.

BTW, you might want to check out their website, which has interesting descriptions of the characters and races of the V-E world. While things are also explained in the book, the website should spark your interest before you buy.

Looking forward to the next book by the authors!

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy, Amazing. So much is going on! I love it! June 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Where to start with this amazing book, it's crazy how much is going while the author tells this amazing story; I just love it. I like how this story is based an ancient Egyptian legend; I am fascinated with legends. Especially the Egyptians, which why I was so excited to read this book and let me tell you, you won't be disappointed reading this book because it has more than a legends. It has romance, betrayal, action, and so much more. I just didn't know what to expect with this read and that just another reason why I loved this book.
The story line is amazing I have never read anything like, it's totally unique, but also the style the author used to write the book is pretty amazing and genius way to do too. It gave all this information, but she gave it in a way that didn't bore you or confused, it just made perfect sense. When she gave us new information or a new character; she made sure to introduce this character and then she let us meet him better by letting us read that certain character perspective of what happen. Which was even more genius, because instead of waiting maybe for another book to get that other characters story like in other books, but you don't with this book because this author gives many point of views. Which was pretty clever and cool to get their other characters views during this book, it made sure to explain each character better.
This book is everywhere, I love it and not just because it paranormal, but that certainly a huge plus, but because the author truly delivers everything that would make and great book even better. That why I gave this book five stars and cannot wait for the next book, which I am sure will be even more crazy but equally more amazing. So grab this book and get started on, you would not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A captivating read June 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Vampire Elite" shines with spectacular mythology, intriguing characters, and a gripping plot.

Set in a plethora of interesting locations, such as France and Brazil, the novel revolves around the millennia-old battle between vampires and the Amiti, a species made by the Egyptian goddess Hathor to complement vampires.

One of the novel's highlights is how it pits relationships and politics against each other to drive the plot.
For instance, it is Simone, the daughter of the former Queen of the Amiti and the King of Vampires, who decides protect the new Queen of the Amiti, Arianna, who is also her half sister.

The story changes perspectives occasionally, giving the reader a variety of viewpoints, allowing the reader to really connect with the characters.

Although the plot takes off quickly, the authors do not neglect the lore of the Amiti and the vampires, clearly outlining their history and capabilities.

The government personnel of each species, such as the Amiti's Keepers, play an important part in the plot and are written about in a way that keeps the reader at the edge of his or her seat.

The link between the Amiti, the vampires, and Egyptian mythology is flawless and adds a real-world layer to the story.

One of book's best characteristics is its emphasis on channeling emotion. The novel navigates the conflicted feelings of Simone, who is half vampire and half Amiti, and her doubts about the vampire practice of incarcerating Amiti for use as bloodstock.

"VE" is the complete package as far as vampire novels are concerned and is a must-have for anyone even remotely interested in the genre.
