More About the Author

I wish my biography said something like "H.W. Kondras is the author of the most beloved children's book of all time, and her creativity has dazzled the world." In real life, I write crossword puzzle books that contain some snarky commentary and do freelance editorial and design work. I love what I do and hope that I am improving with age... but I sort of doubt it. The weirdest thing that has happened to me since I started writing puzzle books was attending a mass book signing at the Book Expo event for booksellers and being scheduled to sign books at the same time as Jonathan Winters and Meg Cabot. Unbelievably there were people in my line too -- I kept saying, "If I were you, I'd see if there were still a chance to get their autographs." and "Thank you for coming, but why are you here?"
