SAMANTHA MOON #6 AS GOOD AS #1
on November 12, 2012
I wasn't going to review this book because I think of these "books" as exciting short stories instead of separate entities. And I've loved all 6 stories because Samantha Moon is such a wonderful character, funny, smart, strong, and keeps her "humanity" intact somehow despite having been attacked and forced to become something she didn't want. Plus. J. R. Rains writing is very good in the self-published world. In this series, I would put him up against any of today's successful thriller writers. However, I have read other works by him, including most of the S. Moon short stories, and while deciding whether or not to get the next short story, I read a 1-star review by a major fan of his who asked people not to slam her for the review - she just wanted to be honest and it hit me as I read her review how true her words were. Mr. Rain, I know you are incredibly talented at writing, but I also notice you putting out a bunch of stories. Her words were exactly how I feel about what I see in your writing - quantity does not always mean quality. I suspect you have a ton of ideas inside of you and a great amount of energy to get them out. But please DO think about slowing down a bit and concentrating on what you are doing best. I think it's time to test your talent and write a full book about the Samantha Moon saga. With the fans you have already accumulated (count me in there!), you might find a wider audience and deserved larger success. Just my humble opinion having read a lot of your stories over the last couple of years for what I consider lighter, well-written entertainment.
As for this story, #6, so good! There was an unevenness in this one that probably made me want to write this review, but the wonderful essence of Samantha Moon and all of her vampire issues were there so I gave it 5 stars. But I know you have a true novel in you and want to encourage you to slow down a bit to find it. To anyone reading this review, I do not hesitate to encourage you to immerse yourself into the world of Samantha Moon (best read in order). Just my opinion, and I am not a real fan of the paranormal genre, this series is fun, not always light, some amazing, inciteful moments, twists and turns and never boring!
