The main story is a riddle solving exercise which might appeal to some but the fact the story has no real ending made it less than entertaining for me. Almost all of the "other" stories are the same, pieces of stories, short fluffs of nothing with no ending, they just stop (which is pretty much what the main story did)

I am a die-hard fan of the Vampire for Hire series but I felt that Mr Rain took advantage of me and this was little more than a money grab. Seeing as how I have pretty much rated all the other books as 5 Stars you should realize how much of a disappointment this one is to me and I believe it will be a disappointment to most others.

Very, very short story of Samantha trying to find a gold treasure on Catalina Island. There were other very short stories but not with Samantha.
There was a deleted scene that I enjoyed.
All in all it too small to be sold as a single book. Samantha did not grow, nothing new was discovered. I like to buy books that make the character grow or changes the story in some way.

Glad to see Samantha Moon back. The story was really interesting but way too short. I am waiting eagerly for the next book.

Some reviewers complained that this "book" wasn't long enough. It's not a book. It is a short story.

I think that anyone who has followed the Samantha Moon series and short stories should know that the short stories don't have anything to do with the main story line. They are like little tidbits for you to nibble on while the book is being worked on.

I liked this short story. It was sweet and gave us a taste of Samantha Moon's world without making it a requirement to buy it in order to keep up with the main story.

That is something I can appreciate. If the author wanted to take advantage of his fans, he could have made all of his short stories for Samantha Moon a part of the main story line. Then you would have HAD to buy the short stories in order to keep up with the books.

As it is, I can choose to buy the short stories or leave them because they don't affect the main story.

The page count for this story was included with the purchase information so complaints about how short is was should be taken with a grain of salt. It clearly said 56 pages.

That gave me a choice: buy it or leave it. I chose to buy it, so I can't really complain now that it's too short because I already knew that.

The stories included in "Vampire Gold" are entertaining and short, but that's kind of what I expected from a short story collection.

As usual, J.R. Rain rocked this story. In this book, Samantha is hired but a guy looking for his family fortune. She's given a treasure map and sent to Catalina. On her quest to locate the "treasure", she runs into the family ghost who created the map. Easy read. Quick. Now I'm just waiting for the next one.........

As soon as I get an update that another installment is ready I buy it and put all other books aside and read it till I'm done. Her adventures are fantastic. As long as JR Rain keeps writing them I'll be a faithful reader. Can't wait for her next case to walk into her door...

My fav series. Great stories, great character. In my opinion, ya don't have to be a fan of vampire books to love this series. Great mystery, great crime stories, great for fans of very balanced female lead characters ( big plus as far as female character written by a man :), right balance of relationship-romance...not over-done or under-done, in my opinion. Over all, never disappointed with J.R. rain or Samantha Moon. Can't wait for the next book
