Great short-lived series, March 25, 2005
This review is from: Vampire High (DVD)
I absolutely adore this show! I ordered this DVD blind because I'd heard of the show before and was very interested in it. Amazon is the only place that sells it and it's dirt cheap so I figured, why not? I am so glad I did. The plot is nothing that special, but I really enjoyed some of the mythology they made up for the show and other well known ideas that they also incorporated into it. I'm also a sucker for Romeo and Juliet type romances that involve vampires, so it's kind of natural that this show would be right up my alley. Although it was obviously made for an early to mid teen audience, I'm in my early 20s and still liked it. The DVD presentation is nothing special, just the first four episodes edited into a 90 minute movie. Six more episodes are scheduled for release in May on two seperate discs.

Vampire High review, February 28, 2006
This review is from: Vampire High (DVD)
I thoroughly enjoyed this series on TV and would very much like to own it all on DVD (unfortunately this disk is all that's available at the moment).
The basic premise is appealing: a small group of young vampires are given sanctuary at an exclusive boarding school to both protect them from the war between the two opposing vampire 'clans', the Fury and the Elders, and to 'humanise' them in preparation for living safely amongst humans. The series explores how the vampires and the school's principal (who is an unusual man himself) try to accomplish this. At the same time a larger group of young human students, all with problems of their own, lives and learns in the above-ground part of the school, and are unaware of the vampires living below them - until one of the vampires falls in love with one of the humans. And to complicate matters further, one of his fellow vampires is in love with him...
The series has its flaws - there are a number of inconsistencies and some considerable plot-holes, and the acting is occasionally uneven - but on the whole it's a wonderful watch, oddly gentle, perceptive and thought-provoking. This DVD contains the first four (of 26) episodes excellently combined into a full-length film, without losing any of the details of the series. I really hope the rest are also released on DVD.

great vampire story/show, November 22, 2008
This review is from: Vampire High (DVD)
This is an excellent show and dvd that deserves atention. Even thou it's mostly vampires there are rich storylines and complexities that make this a cant miss show period... plot:After a civil war between vampire clans (the Fury who wants humans as food and the Elders who want peace with humens) a small group of young vampires are given sanctuary at an exclusive boarding school to 'humanise' them in preparation for living amongst humans. Each vampire teen has there own storylines ad past that continues episode after episode but with new live in each. The series follows how the vampires try to accomplish this. At the same time a larger group of young human students, all with problems of their own, lives and learns in the above-ground part of the school, and are unaware of the vampires living below them. But without a doubt they cross paths. Drew who is one of the vampiers falls for a human girl sherry and this relationship is explored. There are severial storylnes going at the same time and there is never a dull moment. Every emotion and problem the vampire have the humans have proven they aint much different. As you watch this it brings you into the show and you get to know these charactors. This is a very good show and dvd. It ran for one season in canada 2001-2002 and lives in reruns in canada and UK
This DVD contains the first four (of 26) episodes excellently combined into a full-length film, without losing any of the details of the series. There are two more dvds of the show on amazon and i suggest you buy all three. they contain episodes 1-10 but there are 26 episodes all together. and chek out my review on them too. I really hope the rest are also released on DVD.
